    Abstract: A piezoelectric ceramic for acoustic surface wave devices which consists essentially of a solid solution of the ternary system Pb(Sn.sub..alpha. Sb.sub.1-.alpha.)O.sub.3 -PbTiO.sub.3 -PbZrO.sub.3 having a composition showing a phase transition between a ferroelectric rhombohedral low temperature phase (F.sub.R(LT)) and a ferroelectric rohombohedral high temperature phase (F.sub.R(HT)) at a temperature within the range from -20.degree. C. to +80.degree. C. The solid solution consists essentially of a main component expressed by the formula:xPb(Sn.sub..alpha. Sb.sub.1-.alpha.)O.sub.3 -yPbTiO.sub.3 -zPbZrO.sub.3where in x+y+z=1.00, 1/4.ltoreq..alpha..ltoreq.3/4, and contains, as an additive, manganese in oxide form in an amount of 0.05 to 5.0 wt % when converted into MnO.sub.2 and, if necessary, further contains at least one element selected, from magnesium and chromium in oxide form in respective amounts of 0.05 to 5.0 wt % when respectively converted into MgO and Cr.sub.2 O.sub.3.

    Abstract: A liquid sensor mounted on the side wall of a liquid tank for detecting the existence of liquid in the tank. The sensor includes an element which generates a vibration in the direction of its thickness, of energy-trapped type for detecting the existence of liquid. The element consists of electrodes provided on both sides of a piezo-electric substrate, one side of the element for contacting the liquid in the tank being covered with a liquid-proof coating. The existence of liquid is detected from the change in resonance impedance or antiresonance impedance resulting from the liquid contact.

    Abstract: A piezoelectric filter of the energy-trapped type which utilizes thickness shear mode is disclosed, wherein first and second resonator units are connected in a cascade manner. Each of the resonator units includes a piezoelectric plate which has a slit formed therein and a pair of front electrodes on the front thereof and a pair of back electrodes on the back thereof, with the slit lying between each pair of the electrodes. The pair of back electrodes of the second resonator unit are electrically connected to each other. The first and second resonator units are positioned so that the back electrodes of one of the two units face against those of the other, and then mechanically coupled together through the use of an electrically nonconductive adhesive. The back electrodes of the first and second resonator units are led commonly outwardly, while the pair of the front electrodes of the first resonator unit form an input electrode and an output electrode.

The noise filter further includes first and second tubes mounted on the first and second terminal legs, respectively, and third and fourth tubes mounted on the third and fourth terminal legs, respectively. Each of the first, second, third and fourth tubes is made of a magnetic material, whereby high frequency noise signals can be filtered when signals pass through the noise filter.

    Abstract: An improved distribution constant type filter provided with a connecting arrangement which includes a through-opening formed in a dielectric block of the filter along a first cavity of a resonance unit at an initial stage, and a connector provided in the through-opening so that one end of the connector is electrically conducted to a conductive layer formed on part of the outer surface of the dielectric block, with the other end of the connector being connected to an external circuit to receive an input signal. The through-opening is preferably small in lateral cross section relative to the first cavity and positioned at a central portion in a widthwise direction of the dielectric block, and thus, coupling magnetic between the resonance unit and the external circuit suppresses a TE11 resonance mode in the filter.

    Abstract: A miniature inductor used as a boosting coil in a piezoelectric buzzer drive circuit or the like is disclosed. The inductor has a closed magnetic circuit core formed of two cores covering the outer periphery of a coil wound around inner coil-cores. A pair of cutout windows are provided at the outer periphery of each of the cores, and joint plates are disposed on the inner bottom surface of one core. Terminal blocks project outwardly therefrom, so that the terminal blocks are adapted to be folded over each other. The end of each lead wire of the coil is guided through the cutout window and sandwiched between the folded terminal blocks, thereby connecting therewith.
