Patent number: 6205258Abstract: A cost effective and easily assemblable image scanning device with a relatively stable and satisfactory scanning effect is disclosed. The present image scanning device is used in an image scanner having a light source and a focusing reflector device. The image scanner device includes a brightness reflection device for generating a brightness reflection signal in response to a light signal from the light source; an image sense device for respectively generating an image sense signal and a reference brightness signal in response to an object reflection signal from the object to be scanned and the brightness reflection signal; and a brightness-controlling device electrically connected to the image sense device for compensating the image sense signal in response to the reference brightness signal.Type: GrantFiled: May 6, 1998Date of Patent: March 20, 2001Assignee: Must Systems, Inc.Inventor: John Lin

Patent number: 5959745Abstract: A simplified transmission mechanism is provided for an image information apparatus. The transmission mechanism mainly includes a first pair of supports for guiding an illuminating unit, a second pair of supports beneath and parallel to the first pair of supports for guiding a photoelectric converting unit, four pulleys each located at the corners and on the same side of a housing, and a conveying device surrounding four pulleys in the shape of a closed loop for driving the illuminating unit to slide along the first pair of supports in a first direction and the photoelectric converting units to slide along the second pair of supports in a second direction at the same time and at the same speed.Type: GrantFiled: April 29, 1996Date of Patent: September 28, 1999Assignee: Must Systems, Inc.Inventor: Jenn-Tsair Tsai

Patent number: 5719404Abstract: A method and apparatus is used on a flatbed scanner for calibrating the horizontal starting point of a document which is to be scanned by the flatbed scanner. The flatbed scanner is of the type having a light-sensing device as a CCD or CIS device consisting of a linear array of light-sensing cells and a movable scan head. In the method and apparatus, two reflective marks are fixed at a predetermined calibrating position to the front edge of the document. During the calibration process, the movable scan head is moved to the calibrating position where it senses the two reflective marks to thereby determine the distance in pixels between the first light-sensing cell on the linear array and the first reflective mark, and also the distance in pixel between the two reflective marks. The distance in pixel between the first reflective mark and the horizontal starting point of the document can then be determined.Type: GrantFiled: April 24, 1996Date of Patent: February 17, 1998Assignee: Must Systems, Inc.Inventor: Jenn-Tsair Tsai

Patent number: 5693937Abstract: The invention discloses a compact scanner with an internal document tray which can be integrated with a computer and adapted to the location of the floppy diskette driver of the computer. The invention has a very simple structure driving device which allows a document I/O device to locate between illuminating device and photoelectric converting unit. When scanning, an illuminating unit provides light source for the reflective sheet placed on the internal document I/O device. The reflection is then guided to photoelectric converting unit to be converted into electric signals for the computer to read.Type: GrantFiled: April 29, 1996Date of Patent: December 2, 1997Assignee: Must Systems, Inc.Inventor: Jenn-Tsair Tsai

Patent number: 5677527Abstract: The present invention is related to a compensation method for a series of synthesized image signals generated by a double-side readout type of CCD which includes the steps of: a) comparing the first two of the series of synthesized image signals with a reference signal to obtain a first and a second compensating signals, respectively; b) serially comparing each signal of the series of synthesized image signals with the reference signal to obtain a series of difference signals; and c) compensating the series of synthesized image signals according to the first and the second compensating signals and the difference signals, to make every two of the resulting series of synthesized image signals bearing consecutive ordinal numbers substantially equal to each other in potential level. The present invention also relates to a compensation apparatus for implementing the present compensation method.Type: GrantFiled: October 11, 1995Date of Patent: October 14, 1997Assignee: Must Systems, Inc.Inventor: Peen-Pau Cheng

Patent number: 5677777Abstract: The invention disclosed a scanner with the function of providing transmitted light source and reflective light source which can be adapted to the location of a floppy diskette driver of a computer. The invention mainly includes a double-function carriage loaded with a transmitted light source and a reflective light source and a gap therebetween for allowing a transparent document tray to pass through. When scanning, a driving device moves the double-function carriage in longitudinal direction along the sheet to complete the exposure of the entire sheet.Type: GrantFiled: April 29, 1996Date of Patent: October 14, 1997Assignee: Must Systems, Inc.Inventor: Jenn-Tsair Tsai
