Abstract: Systems, methods, and devices for providing interactive striking objects (e.g., drumsticks) and performing actions in response to striking motions of the striking objects are disclosed. In some embodiments, the systems and methods provide an interactive drumstick, which includes a lighting display located at a tip portion of the interactive drumstick, a motion detector contained at least partially within the drumstick, a processor and memory contained at least partially within the drumstick, and an interactive system stored within the memory of the drumstick. The interactive system includes a striking motion module that determines striking motions of the drumstick with respect to a virtual percussion instrument based on accessing information measured by the motion detector, and a display module that causes the lighting display to present a certain type of illumination based on the striking motions determined by the striking motion module.

Abstract: Embodiments of a smart drumstick, a device interacting with the drumstick, and related methods are disclosed. Some embodiments include a computer-readable storage medium whose contents are capable of causing a computing system to perform a method of managing data related to lighting and motion for a device having a drumstick shape, the method comprising: identifying a light signal corresponding to a given type of motion; sending a definition of the determined light signal to the device; receiving a description of a type of motion of the device; determining whether the given type of motion matches the type of motion of the device; and transmitting the determination result to the device.

Abstract: An implementation of the technology includes a control device that is used in conjunction with a computing device (e.g. a media player or smartphone), that allows a user to control the operation of the computing device without directly handling the computing device itself. This allows the user to interact with the computing device in a more convenient manner.
