Patents Assigned to MWL Tool Company
  • Patent number: 5181570
Abstract: A liner hanger and setting tool in which the liner hanger has an expander cone with a rotational clearance space relative to a suporting member and a low friction contacting surface for alleviating binding and frictional forces on the supporting member and where the liner hanger has spaced apart spline housings which cooperate with spline keys on a setting tool to determine rotational torque prior to and during cementing operations and where the release of the setting tool from the liner hanger can be determined prior to cementing.

  • Patent number: 4681159
Abstract: In a PBR system in well bores, a retrievable landing assembly which can be set either mechanically or hydraulically has a telescopic setting sleeve and setting collar where the setting collar is interconnected to a setting tool by a first threaded nut member and a second threaded nut member. The setting tool is threadedly attached by one of the threaded nut members to the setting collar and the one threaded nut member is splined for longitudinal movement with respect to a mandrel of the setting tool while the other nut member is longitudinally and releasably splined to the setting collar and threadedly attached to the mandrel of the setting tool. The setting tool has a shiftable sleeve member which can be shifted by a pressure ball and applied pressure to shift the setting sleeve of the landing assembly into a locking position in the setting collar.

  • Patent number: 4671358
Abstract: A cementing system using a tubular member 43 coupled to a string of tubing 14 where upper and lower tubular liner wiper plugs (20, 21) are independently attached to and separately releasable from the tubular member. The upper tubular liner wiper plug 20 has outer liner wiper seal members, an outer latching mechanism (95) and an inner latching mechanism (52). A fluid bypass (59) is located in the liner wiper plug (20) below the wiper seal members with a check valve structure for bypassing fluid from below the seal members to the bore (45) of the tubular member in response to a pressure differential. A second check valve structure (46) is provided in the tubular member to provide a fluid bypass from the exterior of the tubular member above the seal members to the interior of the tubular member in response to a pressure differential.
