Pick percentages for how often each of two or more selection methodologies are used to select the media content are established. A request for media content is received. Based on the pick percentages, one of the two or more selection methodologies is selected to select media content. The selected media content is then played.

Abstract: A method, apparatus, and computer-readable medium provide the ability to exchange media content. A media content request is received at a website from a user. In response to the media content request, the website requests the media content in the media content request from a decisioning engine. In reply, the website receives a media asset or an identifier for the media asset. The media asset or the media asset identifier is then delivered to the user for consumption.

A networked system is configured to recognize and collect data representative of an activity regarding a network resource on a network site. The data is processed into a distributed statistical ranking to show real time resource rankings relative to at least a predefined subset of the network site.

Abstract: A method, apparatus, system, and computer program product provides the ability to track user interaction with content. An interaction with content by a user is recognized. Data related to the interaction is communicated, in a first engagement message, to a publishing service application. The data includes an identity of the user, an identity of the content interacted with, an engagement type, and an identity of the previous user who directly influenced the interaction. The publishing service determines a likelihood that the interaction will cause other users to further interact with the content. Upon a positive determination that the interaction will cause other users to further interact with the content, the determination is communicated to a viral influence application for further processing.

Abstract: A method, apparatus, system, article of manufacture, and data structure provide the ability to perform a sorted map-reduce job on a cluster. A cluster of two or more computers is defined by installing a map-reduce framework onto each computer and formatting the cluster by identifying the cluster computers, establishing communication between them, and enabling the cluster to function as a unit. Data is placed into the cluster where it is distributed so that each computer contains a portion of the data. A first map function is performed where each computer sorts their respective data and creates an abstraction that is a representation of the data. The abstractions are exchanged and merged to create complete abstraction. A second map function searches the complete abstraction to redistribute and exchange the data across the computers in the cluster. A reduce function is performed in parallel to produce a result.

Abstract: A web-based video editing system configured to edit an interactive video is provided. The web-based video editing system includes an editing system configured to receive and process one or more user interactive video editing requests, wherein the editing system is configured to process the requests by generating information indicative of a linked list; a communication device configured to: receive the generated information; examine a current state of the interactive video; and generate information indicative of the examined current state of the video; and a graphical user interface in communication with the communication device and configured to display the edited interactive video.

Abstract: An image editing system for use with a web-based video editing system is provided. The image editing system comprises: a detection system configured to receive image data; detect regions of the image representing faces; store the data representing the coordinates of the faces as points of interest; and receive user input adding additional points of interest, modifying the points of interest, or deleting the pre-selected points of interest; and a cropping subsystem configured to determine the portion of the image containing the maximum number of points of interest that will fit within the crop area; and crop the image.
