Abstract: A daylight loading device (40) for loading a microfiche cassette (10) with unexposed microfiches makes use of an inclined platform (50) having guides (51) and (52) upon which the microfiche cassette (10) may be positioned. Microfiches are fed from an adjacently positioned dispensing station (43) via a slot (46) and a transport roller pair. In order to provide for an optimum registering of the microfiche in the bottom of the microfiche cassette (10) a spadelike element (55) is temporarily positioned near the latter. A mechanism is provided for re-locking the microfiche cassette (10) after loading.

Abstract: A device for varying the angular setting of the blade of an earthmoving vehicle by means of a pair of double acting hydraulic cylinders in which only one of the cylinders receives pressure direct from a pump. The piston of that cylinder acts on one end of the blade and at the same time transmits pressure fluid through a hydraulic circuit to the piston of the other cylinder acting on the other end of the blade whereby the two pistons move in opposite directions. The hydraulic circuit includes a control valve for reversing the direction of movement of the pistons, the same cylinder being pressurized by the pump in both directions of movement of the pistons. Pressure fluid leakage loss compensating means are provided in each piston.

Abstract: A process is described for preparing compositions comprising ethylene copolymers, such as ethylene-acrylate or ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymers, and compatible liquid hydrocarbons which act as inexpensive plasticizers or extenders, the process enabling large quantities of inert, e.g. inorganic fillers to be incorporated more simply than previously proposed processes. The hydrocarbon is compatible if it satisfies the test that there is no observable exudation of hydrocarbon from the copolymer when 50 g. of powdered copolymer are mixed with a quantity of hydrocarbon in a metal dish which is first heated to 120.degree. C. to fuse the copolymer, second cooled and held at a temperature of -20.degree. C. for 18 hours, and third warmed to room temperature.

Abstract: Resins for use in making resin-coated granules are made by preparing a novolak resin from a phenol and formaldehyde in the presence of lactose and/or galactose, using an acid catalyst. Melt-coating the resin with an amine curing agent on to particulate refractory material gives resin-coated granules which can be moulded to make foundry moulds. The lactose and/or galactose can replace part of the phenol conventionally employed in preparing novolak resins and avoids the need for plasticizers.
