Abstract: A composition of matter comprising a mass of ferrous scrap pieces compressed together in random orientation forming a network of interlocking pieces has been prepared. The ferrous metal network has a density of 1.2 to 4.0 g/cc, a porosity of 50% to 85% and a short transverse tensile strength (S.T.T.S.) of at least 2 psi, preferably at least 2.5 psi. This ferrous metal network is impregnated with magnesium in amount from 18% to 55% by weight of the impregnated body. The magnesium impregnated body is useful for treating high melting metals such as ferrous metal to reduce the sulphur content or to produce nodular iron.

Abstract: Fixation for a plate sheathing to a wall consisting of corner pieces arranged in rows and fixed to the wall by one leg in such a manner that the other legs of the corner pieces lie in a row in the same plane, as also of profile fillets provided with a leg for the adjustable fastening to the protruding leg of the corner pieces wherein each fillet on the other hand forms a face for fixing the covering or sheathing plates, which leg of the corner pieces turned away from the wall is knurled and the leg of the profile fillet is formed with a slot provided with corresponding notches which leg is capable of being fixed to the leg turned away from the corner piece by a blocking screw or -wedge. The leg of the corner piece turned away from the wall is formed with an aperture for receiving a U-shaped locking element the legs of which grasp around the leg of the profile fillet whereas a locking screw is disposed in one of the legs of the locking element.
Abstract: An iron powder is compressed into a disintegrating bullet used for practice ammunition. The powder having a predetermined particle dimension is obtained by atomizing a molten mass of steel with pressurized water. The powder is annealed subsequently, then crushed, scrubbed and sieved to obtain particles at a size preferably between 0.4 to 1 mm.

Abstract: Roller for feeding wholestick cane from the base cutters towards the can chopping apparatus in a sugar cane harvester. Cane engaging bars are mounted on a central shaft by means of curved leaf springs and accommodate themselves to variations in the thickness of the layer of cane fed, by deflection of the leaf springs.
Abstract: A screen ceiling is disclosed comprising a plurality of elongated panels arranged generally in vertical planes with adjacent ends of panels secured to supporting gusset joints in turn suspended from an overhead fixed support structure. Each gusset joint has an outwardly extending support for each panel connected thereto. The outwardly projecting supports in turn have projections extending through one or more openings in the panels which openings are adjacent the ends thereof. Joining and locking members cooperate with the projections extending through the panel openings to lock the panel ends to the gusset joints and prevent loosening.

Abstract: Method and apparatus for determination of the average composition of a gas under pressure over a certain period of time by regularly taking gas samples, which are stored in a collecting vessel. The gas is periodically led for a short, each time identical, length of time to the collecting vessel via a line in which a part is so dimensioned that, at a supercritical pressure ratio, a gas velocity occurs in it equal to the velocity of sound in the gas. In this way, all samples contain the same quantity of gas and a truly average sample is collected in the collecting vessel, as long as the pressure in the collecting vessel is less than about half the pressure upstream of said part.
Abstract: A stretcher for stretching wires and similar elements for use in fences and the like which comprises a yoke to be attached to a post or similar element, the outer portions of the yoke being provided with two opposite apertures, and a rotatable stretching element disposed between the outerportions of the yoke and provided with a through cross-aperture in which a wire to be stretched can be received. The rotatable stretching element is provided with a threaded outer end having a cross-section smaller than the stretching element, thus forming a collar, and substantially equal to the cross-section of the aperture of associated outer portion of the yoke and an associated nut. By tightening the nut, the associated outer end portion of the yoke is gripped between the collar of the stretching element and the nut.
Abstract: A recording material is described, which comprises a support of paper or of synthetic polymer and an electroconductive layer on at least one side of the support. The surface resistance of this electroconductive layer is not more than 10.sup.11 ohms per sq. at a relative humidity of 15%. The layer consists or includes a major proportion of a water-soluble polymer resulting from the amino alkylation of polyethyleneimine with an epoxy compound bearing a quaternary ammonium end group. The electroconductive layers may be used as antistatic layers in a photographic silver halide recording material. When covered with a photoconductive coating the electroconductive layer may be used in electrophotographic recording materials. When an insulating layer is applied on the electroconductive layer an electrographic recording material is formed.

Abstract: To produce resisting metal coatings containing at least one brazing metal surfaces formed of titanium or another refractory metal having at least one volatile halide, a coating of this halide of the brazing metal is applied to this surface, this halide being stable in the isolated state and when applied to the surface, the halogen of the said halide being able to form the volatile halide with the refractory metal; the surface thus coated is heated to a temperature which is sufficient to permit the reaction of the metal halide with the refractory metal to form the volatile halide, which escapes and to form the metal coating, bounded by diffusion of the brazing metal to the surface of the refractory metal.

Abstract: A jet powered watercraft of motorcycle-like configuration. Longitudinally aligned front and rear skis are located in spaced relation below a hull and operate to hydrodynamically lift the watercraft to a cruise position by relative water flow upon the undersides of the skis. The rear ski and a jet pump are secured as an integral unit to an engine. The rear ski includes an opening through which water passes to the jet pump, and further includes channels on either side of the opening to collect and carry away entrained air. The engine is located in the hull and is cooled by water supplied by the jet pump which it drives. The front ski is rotatable for steering and is resiliently extensible for stability in turning. The center of buoyancy of the watercraft is above its center of gravity so that the craft is self-righting. The exhaust and cooling systems are arranged to eliminate flooding despite location of portions of the engine below water when the craft is at rest.
