  • Patent number: 4801228
Abstract: A device for securely restraining cargo during transport, comprising a generally planar platform member supported in spaced relation from an underlying floor, and having an upper load bearing surface for receiving a cargo load thereupon, and an upright member being adjoined to one end of said platform member for effecting restraining contact with the adjacent side of the load seated on said platform member; said upright member including a generally planar member facing said load which is provided with a plurality of vertically spaced horizontal parallel slots therethrough, whereby straps may be passed beneath said platform member and then about the load seated thereupon and securely fastened in contact with said load by being passed through a horizontal slot at said upright member in accordance with the height of the said load seated on said platform member.

  • Patent number: 4529345
Abstract: A device for securely restraining open head shipping drums during vehicular transport. The device comprises a platform member supported in spaced relation from an underlying floor, and having an upper load bearing surface for receiving a cargo load of open head shipping drums thereupon. An upright member is adjoined to one end of the platform member for effecting restraining contact with the adjacent side of the load seated on the platform member, the upright member including a generally planar member facing the load. The upper load bearing surface of the platform member is stepped to define first and second generally planar support levels at alternate sides of the platform member, whereby drums respectively supported on the first and the second levels are precluded from impact between their respective rims, upon side-to-side movement or swaying thereof.

  • Patent number: 4515506
Abstract: A cargo restraining device for a palletized load including a platform for receiving a pallet with a load of cargo thereon, and a vertical frame at one end of the platform. A handle is pivotally secured to the frame and connected to a horizontally-extending member which is movable to place it in frictional contact with a floor or supporting surface. When the pallet is placed on the platform, it can be locked in place by a serrated member which engages a cross-tie of the pallet. To lock the pallet and platform to the floor, the handle is pushed downwardly while at the same time pushing the frame toward the load. Movement of the handle, which pivots about a hinge pivotally connected to the frame, moves the horizontally-extending member into contact with the supporting surface and at the same time lifts and tilts the platform, which adds an augmented downward force on the horizontally-extending member in contact with the supporting surface.

  • Patent number: 4338053
Abstract: A cargo retainer, having a floor contacting member provided with an upwardly facing load bearing surface and an upright member secured adjacent to the rear end of the floor contacting member, is provided with a floor piercing element. The floor piercing element is movably mounted adjacent to the juncture between the floor contacting member and the upright member and is movable relative to the cargo retainer between a position of relatively shallow floor piercing engagement and a position of substantially deeper floor piercing engagement. A member projects from the cargo retainer adjacent to the juncture between the floor contacting member and the upright member in planar alignment with the floor piercing element and serves to drive the floor piercing element from a shallow engagement position to a deeper engagement position with rearward movement of the cargo retainer and thereby limit such movement in service.
