  • Patent number: 6890123
Abstract: A system and method to allow a paving machine to form tight radii in continuous extrusions such as curbs and gutters is disclosed. A shift cylinder is used with the steering mechanism of a typical paving machine to allow sharp radius turns. The steering cylinder is used to pivot the track of the paving machine about its leg and the steering cylinder is used to pivot the leg relative to the frame of the paving machine. A hydraulic circuit is operator activated to allow fluid flow through a flow divider to ensure each cylinder operates in concert.

  • Patent number: 6709195
Abstract: A moveable tailpiece for use in association with a slip form on a curb forming machine. The tailpiece is selectively rotatable from a parked position, away from the slip form, to an engaged position at the end of the slip form. The tailpiece has the profile corresponding to a lowered curb profile as required to form, for example, a driveway access or handicap ramps. Utilizing the tailpiece in a curb formation considerably reduces the amount of manual finishing work required to produce an acceptable curb.

  • Patent number: 6705799
Abstract: This invention relates to a vibrating screed for compacting and smoothing flowable cementitious materials. More specifically, this invention relates to a self-contained hydraulic powered concrete screed. This hydraulic screed consists of a relatively lightweight screed unit having a hydraulic powered vibrator and a portable hydraulic power pack that is mounted on a back pack wearable by the operator. The handle of the screed unit is isolated from the hydraulic vibrator and screed blade by three rubber isolation mounts. The working height of the handle can be adjusted by a turnbuckle assembly at one of the rubber mounts, causing the handle to pivot about the other two the rubber mounts. The hydraulic power pack comprises an internal combustion engine driving a hydraulic pump that provides pressurized hydraulic fluid to the vibrator unit via flexible hoses.
