    Abstract: A method of, and apparatus for, automatically applying a milking cluster. An animal to be milked and the milking cluster are first coarsely positioned relatively to each other, followed by detecting the position of at least the animal's teats relative to at least the teat cups of the milking cluster by means of ultrasonorous waves, then accurately positioning the teat cups of the milking cluster relatively to the teats, starting from the detected position of the teats, and finally applying the teat cups to the teats.
