  • Patent number: 7419343
Abstract: The present invention is to avoid the flange portion of a T-nut of from overlapping the portion between the claws of another T-nut, while the T-nut is supplied on a supply track provided on a nut applying machine, and also to engage the projections formed between the claws into a fixing material when the T-nut is knocked into the fixing material. There is provided a T-nut formed of a metal material in an integrated manner, having a shank portion 49 and an octagonal or almost octagonal flange portion 50, and two pairs of claws 55 to 58. The shank portion 49 has a caulking portion 51 and a female screw portion 52. The caulking portion 51 is formed thinner than the female screw portion 52. Projections 64, 65 are provided between each of the pairs of claws, formed by bending convex portions integrally formed with the flange portion 50 toward the second end of the shank portion 49.

  • Patent number: 6511274
Abstract: A T nut has a cap portion 45 integrally formed continuous from a tip end portion of a flarable portion 34. At a connecting region between flarable portion 34 and cap portion 45, an inner surface 44 of flarable portion 34 is formed recessed outward. With this structure, the T nut can be driven cleanly directly into a solid workpiece object, without the necessity of providing a receiving hole in advance. Also with this structure, a caulking force applied by a caulking counter tool to the tip end portion of the T nut separates the cap portion from the flarable portion and outwardly caulks and flares the flarable portion to secure the T nut to the workpiece.

  • Patent number: 6439818
Abstract: A nut consists of integral metal material and has a female screw threading; screw thread formed with a rolled tap in a screw hole that opens substantially perpendicularly to an end surface of one end of the nu. A concave lead-in is located at an opening end of the screw hole and has a shape including a concave curved portion and a linear tapered portion that are continuous with each other, and extend along the overall periphery of the opening end of the hole. Due to the special concave lead-in, the first thread formed by the rolled tap adjacent to the concave lead-in will not have a concave groove along its crest, although subsequent threads have such a concave groove along the thread crest as a characteristic of thread formation with the rolled tap. Such a thread structure avoids cross-threading when a bolt is engaged in the nut.

  • Patent number: 6139237
Abstract: A metallic fastening member of a one piece configuration formed of a metal material includes a shaft and a flange extending outwards from a first end of the shaft. The shaft includes a relatively thin-walled portion to be caulked at a second end opposite to the first end. A female threading is formed at an inner peripheral face of the shaft excluding the portion to be caulked. An annular groove is formed at an outer peripheral face of the shaft or at the inner peripheral face of the portion to be caulked, so that the shaft has a partially thin wall. Since the wall of the shaft is thinner at the annular groove, the metallic fastening member can be fractured at that area so as to be separated into upper and lower pieces when detaching the metallic fastening member from a workpiece. Therefore, the metallic fastening member can be readily removed from the workpiece to facilitate the recovery work for recycling purposes.

  • Patent number: 5908664
Abstract: In a method of working a metal member, a liquid synthetic detergent mainly composed of a surface-active agent is supplied to a metal plate as a lubricant in a press working step of holding the metal plate between a male die and a female die and press-forming the same. According to this working method, press working of a stainless steel plate or the like can be smoothly performed due to excellent lubricity of the surface-active agent contained as the main component in the liquid synthetic detergent. When a lubricant prepared from a liquid synthetic detergent containing a rust preventive is applied to lubrication of a carbon steel plate or the like, excellent workability can be attained without rusting, due to the action of the rust preventive, and with no contamination by oil.

  • Patent number: 5823729
Abstract: A tee nut includes a shaft part, a flange part outwardly extending from a first end of the shaft part, and a cap part outwardly extending on a second end of the shaft part while blocking or closing this second end, which consist of an integral material. The shaft part is in the form of a hollow cylinder, and is provided with a female screw threading on its inner peripheral surface, while the cap part has a non-circular external shape. The tee nut having this structure can be manufactured from a metal plate through a series of steps including plastic working, and can be securely embedded in and fixed to a member consisting of resin or rubber while preventing displacement of the tee nut.

  • Patent number: 5503596
Abstract: In order to manufacturer a tee nut by plastic working steps, a swollen portion is formed on a metal plate, a through hole is formed in the forward end surface of this swollen portion, and then the outer diameter and therewith the wall thickness of a forward end portion of the swollen portion is relatively reduced as compared to a base portion of the swollen portion. Then, the outer and inner diameters of the base portion are reduced while substantially maintaining its wall thickness. Thus, the forward end portion defines a relatively thin portion to be caulked, and the base portion defines a relatively thick female screw forming portion of the tee nut. Thus, it is possible to form a tee nut having a shaft with a uniform outer diameter and having a relatively thin forward end portion forming the portion to be caulked while the tee nut is held by the metal plate.

  • Patent number: 5429466
Abstract: Disclosed herein is a Tee nut which can form a hole in a work piece with no problem by driving of the Tee nut itself, without previously forming a hole in the work piece. A closure member is engaged in a hollow shaft portion, to divide a portion to be caulked from a female threading carrier portion. A punched-out portion resulting from a hole which is formed by driving of a Tee nut itself is prevented by the closure member from reaching the female threading carrier portion, so that the punched-out portion can be discharged at the same time by extruding the closure member.

  • Patent number: 5348432
Abstract: In order to prevent a flange of a tee nut which is moved along a feed track from overlapping with that of another tee nut so that the tee nut can be smoothly fed along the feed track, the flange is an octagon having linear sides coupling paired the two pawls of each of two pairs of pawls with each other. To firmly and semi-permanently fix the tee nut in an object, a relatively thin-walled flarable or splayable portion is formed on an end of a shaft away from the flange. A female screw forming portion is provided on a portion of the shaft excluding the flarable or splayable portion. When this tee unit is mounted on the object, the pawls bite into the object and the flarable or splayable portion is flared or splayed to form a flared or splayed rim.
