  • Patent number: 5549392
Abstract: The present disclosure concerns resiliently mounted pad type journal bearings. Compensation for lateral movement of a journal due to shifts in loading is achieved by varying the profile of the hydrodynamic wedge between one or more of the bearing pads and the journal. Journal bearings according to the present invention are appropriate for either mono-directional or bi-directional journal rotation.

  • Patent number: 5035153
Abstract: A lubrication system for a roller transmission having a sun roller, at least one row of planet rollers, and a surrounding ring roller. The lubrication system includes a fluid feed tube supplying lubricant to a distributing manifold. The manifold in turn supplies a plurality of cross feed tubes which direct fluid to the contacting surfaces between the adjacent rollers. The lubrication system also includes a lubrication conduit and connected cooling channels in the sun roller which feed lubricant to the interface between the sun roller and first row of planet rollers.

  • Patent number: 4617838
Abstract: A traction ball drive of the type having torque ball driven split inner races drivingly connected to an output shaft wherein a plurality of preload balls retained in variable depth arcuate grooves formed the opposed annular surfaces of one of the inner races and a pre-load ring, slidably keyed to the output shaft and resiliently loaded by a disk spring, provide preloading on the torque balls with the preload balls traversing the grooves responsive to torque variations to establish the required dynamic loading between the inner races and the torque balls.
