Abstract: The present invention is directed particularly to an improved method using owder metallurgy for the manufacture of the grooved cooling wall of a liquid-propellant rocket combustion chamber. The surface of an inner cylinder constituting the cooling wall is formed with cooling grooves, and these grooves are densely filled up with a filler such as paraffin wax. Thereafter, metal powder which will provide an outer cylinder is compression-molded to a predetermined thickness around the inner cylinder. This metal powder is the same material as the material of the inner cylinder. After the paraffin wax which is the filler is evaporated and removed, the compression-molded metal powder body is sintered in a furnace. During this sintering heat treatment, the inner and outer cylinders are rigidly joined together by the sintering reaction between the atoms of the inner cylinder and the atoms of the metal powder.

Abstract: A retainer for bearing having a ball confining pocket in an oval shape, which is defined by a pair of semi-circles and a rectangular space between the semi-circles, each semi-circle having a radius substantially corresponding to the radius of the ball, and the rectangular space having a short side length corresponding to a clearance between the ball and the pocket surface and a long side length corresponding to a diameter of the ball.

Abstract: A hollow, air-cooled turbine blade of the type having a plurality of ridges and projections extended inwardly from an interior surface of said blade, an insert snugly fitted into a space defined and supported by the ridges and projections and cooling air passages for communicating the space inside the insert with an exterior blade surface, said air passage including a first passage for communicating the space through a space defined between the insert and a wall of the blade with the exterior blade surface and a second air passage for communicating the space within the insert through at least some of the projections directly with the exterior blade surface.
