  • Patent number: 7563156
Abstract: A planetary grinding machine having a simple design with a minimal number of parts, which are all easily accessible for maintenance and repair is disclosed. The machine has a rotating planetary disk with rotating screeding disks attached. The planetary disk is driven by a shaft extending through a top housing cover plate, which supports a transmission driven by a motor. As the planetary disk rotates, a single belt engages a stationary gear on the cover plate and pulleys on screeding disk shafts to turn the screeding disks as the planetary disk is turned. The belts and pulleys for the drive mechanism are sandwiched between the planetary disk and the top cover to protect the mechanisms from dust and debris. The bearings are sealed to prevent dust and debris from entering and oil from escaping. The bearings, being on the inside of the planetary disk, keep oil from landing on the floor.

  • Patent number: 7281677
Abstract: A take-up roll forming apparatus for flexible strip material comprises a motor-driven shaft journaled for rotation on a frame where the shaft extends through a circular plate that is affixed to the shaft. A plurality of magnets is affixed to the plate in a predetermined pattern. A reel having a tubular core is adapted to slip over the motor-driven shaft and the reel also includes a circular end plate having magnets affixed thereto such that when the motor-driven shaft rotates, it tends to carry the reel with it due to the magnetic forces attracting the magnets on the motor-driven plate to the magnets on the end plate of the reel.

  • Patent number: 7247085
Abstract: A combined floor edger and grinder having a grinding disk which can be adjusted from engaging the floor while flat to engaging the floor along a front, back or side edge of the disk, depending on the height adjustment of the wheels on either side of the frame. The wheels, shroud and handle can also be adjustable relative to the frame for moving the frame straight back and forth or at an angle such that with the disk adjusted to engage the floor on one side of the frame the wheels and handle can be adjusted such that they are angled with respect to a wall for use as an edger whereby a user can push the device along the edge of a wall in a straight line while edging. The shroud and disk sizes may be easily changed for different jobs. The shroud can be open or close ended.

  • Patent number: 7228808
Abstract: A portable sewing machine powered by a battery can be used for carpet binding and other tasks. A pod having a motor and a battery are releasably attached to the side of the sewing machine and can be used on several different sewing machines such that only one pod need be purchased. The battery can be plugged into a plug on the pod to use a different battery while the first battery is being recharged. The battery-powered sewing machine can be on wheels for running on the floor for carpet binding, or it can be used in a stationary position. The portable sewing machine eliminates cords, which limit its use in carpet binding applications. The battery-powered sewing machine can operate in environments where no electricity is available such as in buildings under construction or sailboats needing sail repairs.

  • Patent number: 6421924
Abstract: The cushion back carpet cutting tool is a hand tool for cutting foam back carpeting that creates a clean straight cut through the carpeting so that a smooth unnoticeable seam results where two pieces of carpet material are brought together. The tool includes a leading edge on the center plate that opens the adjacent rows of tufts in the carpeting, three blades for cutting the carpeting between adjacent rows either close to the right row of tufts, left row of tufts or midway between the tufts, three plates that retain the blades and an adjustable retainer system for the blades, and a handle. The leading edge has an angle of less than 90 degrees from the horizontal and is rounded in shape to prevent loop or woven carpeting from catching on the tool, and also to keep the tool from jumping out of the row where the cut is being made. The blades are kept in place at an angle of between 15 to 25 degrees from the bottom edge of the tool, which results in a smoother cut being made in the carpeting.

  • Patent number: 6230410
Abstract: The wall trimmer for carpet and vinyl floor coverings is a hand tool for cutting floor coverings flush to the wall. The wall trimmer may be used in both directions along walls, and may be used right or left handed. The wall trimmer includes a base plate that allows the wall trimmer to be slid on the surface of floor coverings. The base plate is wide and flat, which stabilizes the tool for true cuts along the walls. There is also a handle assembly that is used to move the wall trimmer along its path, which is attached to the base plate. The handle assembly can be easily angularly adjusted for different jobs. The wall trimmer also includes a blade guide assembly that retains a pair of blades that are used to cut the floor covering. The blades are retained at an angle of about 15 to 25 degrees from the base plate. This shallow angle allows for good cutting with little effort. The blades are also crossed so that the trimmer is able to cut floor coverings closer to the corners of rooms.

  • Patent number: 5025970
Abstract: A protective sleeve for a powered tacking machine is in the form of a single piece sleeve member formed of a resilient memoried polymeric material shape to encase the body of the stapler, has bottom and size openings to accommodate the stapling head and the handle of the stapling machine and a top opening to allow convection cooling of the body of the stapling machine. A further slit is provided connecting the side and bottom openings in said sleeve member such that the bottom portion of the sleeve member can be opened to accommodate placement on the machine, the material memory thereafter returning the material to its original shape on the tacking machine, such that no other means is required for retaining the sleeve member on the tacking machine.

  • Patent number: 5015235
Abstract: A needle (11) for a hypodermic syringe is a force fit on a hub (12) which can be secured onto a container for the fluid to be injected. A cover (13) fits over a boss on the hub and provides an enclosure for the needle. The assembly of hub, needle and cover are housed in a container (14) which fits around the hub (12). To control the depth of penetration of the needle, the user selects an adjuster (15) from a set of adjusters of different sizes and fits it over a part of the hub.
