Patents Assigned to NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF BIOLOGICAL RESOURCES
  • Patent number: 11000039
Abstract: A method for controlling nematode includes treating a plant or soil with a composition comprising a grammicin compound of Formula 1 or an agriculturally acceptable salt thereof. The grammicin compound may be isolated from a Xylaria grammica strain so that it is harmless to a human body, does not cause any environmental contamination, and exhibits an excellent control activity against root knot nematodes. Thus, it can be advantageously used for developing an environment-friendly natural nematicide and production of a high value-added organic agricultural product.

  • Patent number: 10980242
Abstract: Xylaria grammica EL 000614 strain has a nematicidal activity against root knot nematode. A method for controlling root knot nematode includes treating a crop, a crop seed, or a field for cultivation with a nematicidal microorganism formulation. The method has very little possibility of having a problem related to environmental contamination, and exhibits a high mortality and activity of inhibiting egg hatching for sweet potato root knot nematode (M. incognita). It is expected that the strain can be very advantageously used as an innovative biological control agent which enables prevention of problems associated with environmental contamination.

  • Publication number: 20140370131
Abstract: The present invention relates to a pharmaceutical composition and food composition comprising Nelumbo nucifera seed extract as an active ingredient for the protection of brain nerve cells. Particularly, the composition is characterized by having an activity of removing reactive oxygen species (ROS) or an antioxidant activity. More particularly, the antioxidant activity is characterized by the activity of removing 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) radicals or the activity of removing hydrogen peroxide (H2O2). Also, the present invention is extracted from a natural substance and is thus safe for the human body and provides fundamental data to the food and pharmaceutical fields, which use products derived from natural substances.
