  • Patent number: 5657852
Abstract: A screw conveyor for tacky media has members such as chains disposed in rest positions extending into the trough laterally of the screw axis. These members are engaged and deflected by the screw blade as it progresses along said axis. The members are subject to a restoring moment, such as the force of gravity, tending to forcefully restore the members to the rest position from the deflected positions so that the media is forcefully impacted by the members and adherent media is dislodged from the blade and agglomerates are disintegrated.

  • Patent number: 5510419
Abstract: A polymer-modified rubber composition is formed by blending together about 5% to about 60% vulcanized styrene-butadiene rubber crumb; about 5% to about 60% uncured rubber; about 5% to about 30% styrene-based thermoplastic resin; about 1% to about 10% homogenizing agent adapted to facilitate blending of aromatic-based with non aromatic-based polymers; and about 1% to about 10% curing agent for the uncured rubber; to form a blend wherein the thermoplastic resin (c) is substantially homogeneously blended with the rubbers (a) and (b). All major components of the composition may be derived from the post industrial and post consumer waste stream. The compositions have excellent physical properties, especially stiffness and stiffness retention at elevated temperatures.

  • Patent number: 5482400
Abstract: A segmented adjustment riser for maintenance holes has a plurality of similar elongated one-piece segments. Each segment has two opposite ends provided with respective interengaging formations, and the segments are placed together end to end to form an endless riser member having planar upper and lower sides. The formations interengage and resist lateral displacement of each end of each segment relative to the adjacent end of each adjacent segment. The segments can be manufactured relatively easily and with greater economy than the corresponding one-piece riser member and facilitate handling and installation.

  • Patent number: 5403637
Abstract: A theft and vandalism resistant resilient surfacing system having resilient mats molded with recesses in their upper sides extending part way through the mats adjacent the edges and corners. Connector plates extend beneath the juxtaposed edges of adjacent mats and have posts extending upwardly through narrow openings in the bottom portions of the recesses. Means are provided for abutting on the upper sides of the bottom portions and retaining the upper ends of the posts. Preferably, the posts have stiffly resiliently deformable arrowhead formations on their upper ends which snap couple with the openings in the bottom portions.
