In an embodiment the present invention further relates to the use of an extract of Terminalia chebula for treatment of osteoarthritis. In another embodiment, a T. chebula extract composition contains about 8-25% by weight chebulagic acid, about 15-30% by weight chebulinic acid and about 10-40% by weight other low molecular weight hydrolyzable tannoids. This embodiment provides a T. chebula enriched tannoid blend composition (TC/enriched tannoid blend). In another embodiment, a method of treating osteoarthritis in an individual is provided, comprising administering to the individual in need thereof a therapeutically effective amount of the T. chebula extract composition.
Abstract: A group of indolealkylamino-withasteroid conjugates, isolated and purified from Withania somnifera, are described. A synthetic method of making an indolealkylamino-withasteroid compound is provided. In vitro acetyl cholinesterase inhibitory activity and methods for treatment of dementia and dementia-related disorders, such as Alzheimer's disease, and anxiety and depressive disorders in mammals are demonstrated with these novel compositions.
