Abstract: An ion generating device can include a housing having an opening, an anode and a cathode disposed within the housing and having a space between them in fluid communication with the opening, a power source having a negative terminal and a positive terminal with a first connection between the negative terminal and the anode and a second connection between the positive terminal and the cathode, and an air mover disposed to direct an air flow through the space and out of the opening.

Abstract: A method and device for measuring ion concentration in a defined space including disposing at least one conductive surface in a defined space, generating a flow of ions from an ion generator having an anode and a cathode into the defined space, measuring one of voltage across or direct current (DC) through a resistor connected between the cathode and the at least one conductive surface, and determining ion concentration in the defined space based upon a proportionality of ion concentration to the measured voltage or current.

Abstract: A device and method for injecting ions into a stream of air. The device comprises a housing; an electric circuit inside the housing; an electrically conductive element coupled to the electric circuit for emitting ions, at least a portion of the conductive element being exposable to at least a portion, of the stream of air for injecting the ions into the stream of air; and a heater element disposed inside the housing for heating one or more circuit elements of the electric circuit.
