    Abstract: The invention relates to means for the emergency abandonment of an aircraft and makes it possible to create a super-light and effective system for emergency abandonment which can be used in aircraft with a flight speed of 500-600 km/hour. This is achieved by at first catapulting a parachute pack (7) by means of an ejection mechanism (6) and then catapulting a member of the crew using an ejection mechanism (2). In order to ensure safety in the case of pair catapulting, the direction of catapulting of the parachute pack and the member of the crew is at an angle of 15-20.degree. relative to the plane of symmetry of the aircraft. Furthermore, the parachute pack is used as a means for breaking the transparency of the cockpit.

    Abstract: A diamond-containing material having the following element content ratio in per cent by weight: carbon 75-90, hydrogen 0.6-1.5, nitrogen 1.0-4.5, oxygen the balance, the following phase content ratio in per cent by weight: roentgen amorphous diamond-like phase 10-30, diamond of cubic modification the balance, and having a porous structure. 10-20% of the surface of the material consists of methyl, nitryl and hydroxyl groups of two types, as well as functional oxycarbonic groups of the general formula O.dbd.R where R represents .dbd.COH, .dbd.COOH, .dbd.CO, .dbd.C.sub.6 H.sub.4 O or any of their combinations, and 1-2% of the surface constits of carbon atoms with non-compensated links. A method for obtaining said material consists in detonation of a carbon-containing explosive substance with negative oxygen balance, or a mixture of explosive substances, in a closed volume in the atmosphere of gases inert to carbon, with an oxygen content of 0.1-6.

    Abstract: There is proposed a water treatment method by causing the water to be pured to flow through a first and a second compartments arranged in succession in an electrolysis cell divided by a permeable membrane into said first and second compartments. Each of the compartments accomodates an electrode, one of them being an anode, and the other--a cathode. Direct electric current is then passed through the water between the anode and the cathode, the current value being determined from the following equation:I=K.times.(C).sup.1/4 .times.Q,whereinI is the current amperage (A),C is the feed water mineralization equal to 0.1-1.5 g/l,Q is the water flow rate (1/hour), ##EQU1## the I/Q ratio being comprised within from about 110 to about 220 Coulomb/liter. The water is caused to flow successively from the anode compartment towards the cathode compartment. Once the water is discharged from the cathode compartment, it is subjected to filtering by passing the water through a bed of a porous carbonaceous material.

The shells (8 and 9) consist of truncated cones with oppositely oriented bases. Their larger and smaller bases, respectively, are secured with tension on the casing of the relief valve (6), the larger base of the shell (9) is secured with tension on the outlet sleeve (4) and inside it is secured, at interference fit, a smaller base of the shell (8).

    Abstract: In the spinning unit of a centrifugal spinning machine the yarn conduct (4, 5) mounted between the revolving tube (2) and the yarn spreader (8) is designed so as to open on the side of the rewinding unit consisting of a winding drum (17) and a cartridge holder (18). The yarn conduct opens without displacement of the yarn (28) from its longitudinal axis. This allows to reduce the friction of the yarn (28) against the wall of the yarn conduct (4, 5) during the spinning process and to reduce the friction of the yarn (28) against the wall and the upper end of the spreader (8) during the rewinding process, as well as to bring the rewinding unit closer to the spinning unit.

The rate of air bleed is controlled first by increasing it until the boundary layer is attached to the airstreamed surface, then by decreasing the rate of air bleed until the pressure in the trailing-edge aircraft portion starts decreasing. The aircraft equipped with the boundary layer control system, including a number of vortex chambers accommodating streamlined bodies and communicating, through a common passage and a receiver, with a low-pressure source.

    Abstract: An apparatus for measuring hardness of materials has an indentor to be pressed into the surface of material, a rod in the form of a center plate having a shank rigidly secured to one end thereof and the indentor rigidly secured to the other end thereof. The apparatus also has a dynamometric gauge having a first branch thereof with a hole in which the shank of the rod is received. A second branch of the dynamometric gauge supports a spindle of a device for loading the indentor. One of the branches of the dynamometric gauge carries at least one pick-up for measuring the load at the indentor engageable with the other branch of the dynamometric gauge. The apparatus also has a device for measuring the depth of penetration of the indentor into the surface of material in the form of a frame having its opposed bars enclosing the first branch of the dynamometric gauge.
