Abstract: A format of an Infrared (IR) transmission from an IR remote is matched to a corresponding IR protocol format for a starting sequence associated with the transmission. Next, a format of a payload that follows the starting sequence in the transmission is matched to a payload format associated with the matched protocol format. Assuming both the starting sequence and the payload formats match, the transmission is relayed and/or replayed over an IR re-transmitter situated in proximity to an IR-enabled device associated with the IR remote, and the IR-enabled device processes a command represented in the payload of the transmission. When either the starting sequence fails to match a supported IR protocol or the payload format fails to match a given supported IR protocol, the transmission is ignored and discarded as unverified.

Abstract: Disclosed herein are systems and methods for providing a promotion or incentive. The systems and methods may include detecting, by a computing device comprising a processor, that a consumer has evaluated a product. The product located at a retail store. The systems and methods may also include providing, by the computing device, an incentive to the consumer to purchase the product based on an amount of time the consumer has evaluated the product within the store.
Abstract: Front side, reverse side, and transmissive images for a media item are obtained during a transaction at a transaction terminal wherein the media item is being processed by or urged through the transaction terminal during the transaction. A substrate image is derived from the front side, reverse side, and transmissive images. Features are extracted from the substrate image and compared against model features for a given type and a given denomination associated with the media item. A decision is made as to whether the media item is genuine or counterfeit based on the comparison between the extracted features and the model features, and the indication is provided to the transaction terminal during the transaction.
Abstract: Disclosed are systems and methods for recycling currency. The systems and methods may include receiving, at a self-service terminal, a plurality of currency notes; sorting, by the self-service terminal, the plurality of currency notes by denomination; and dispensing, by the self-service terminal, a subset of the plurality of currency notes.
Abstract: A Basic Input/Output System (BIOS)/Unified Extensible Firmware Interface (UEFI) on a Self-Service Terminal (SST) processes during a boot of the SST. When a new hard disk is detected as being present and an identifier for the new hard disk is missing from a whitelist, a signed hard disk identifier is verified from storage on the new hard disk. If the signed hard disk identifier is verified: the new hard disk is authenticated, the whitelist is updated to include the new hard disk identifier, a unique identifier for BIOS/UEFI and the new hard disk identifier are written to the storage of the new hard disk, and the boot process is permitted to continue for the SST.
Abstract: Two separate executing agents that execute on two separate devices coordinate to animate objects between two separate displays. The agents take control and pass control of the objects presented on the displays between one another and a common scene can be synchronized between the two displays by the agents. The objects are animated and rendered on the displays by the agents.

Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention are drawn to systems and methods for securing information using cryptographically keyed units. Specifically, in one embodiment of the present invention, a system is provided for securing information that uses two cryptographically keyed units to encrypt information flowing between a fuel pump device and a remote device. Thus, even if the information is intercepted, it could not be used to perpetrate fraud.

Abstract: A three-dimensional image (3D) image for a shape of an orientation of an item is captured when an item barcode for the item is captured by a scanner during item checkout at a terminal. Edges for the shape and dimensions for the shape are calculated from the 3D image based on the orientation. The shape dimensions are compared against expected dimensions for a candidate item that is identified from item information in the item barcode and a decision is made as to whether to validate the item barcode for the item during item checkout or as to whether to invalidate the item barcode and suspend item checkout at the terminal for an audit of the item checkout.
Abstract: A system and method of completing an activity via an agent. The agent is embodied as agent software, which facilitates and/or performs activities on behalf of a user. The agent software may have a characteristic persona that it presents to the user in the form of an avatar on a display. The agent software may be part of a computer program stored in a memory and executed by a processor of a smartphone or other computer.
Abstract: Disclosed is a shutter assembly for a self-service terminal. The shutter assembly may comprise a track assembly, a shutter door, and a motor. The shutter door may be installed within the track assembly. The motor may be operative to move the shutter door between a first position and a second position and the first position and a third position. The second position may be located opposite the third position.
Abstract: A system detects a transaction outcome by obtaining video data associated with a transaction area and analyzing the video data to obtain at least one video transaction parameter concerning transactions associated with the transaction area. The transaction area can be a video count of items indicated in the video data as detected by an automated item detection algorithm applied to the video data. The system obtains at least one expected transaction parameter concerning an expected transaction that occurs in the transaction area, such as a scan count of items scanned at a point of sale terminal. The system automatically compares the video transaction parameter(s) to the expected transaction parameter(s) to identify a transaction outcome that may indicate fraudulent activity such as sweethearting in a retail environment.
Abstract: Disclosed are battery locks. The batter locks may include a body, a first arm, and a second arm. The body may have a first end, a second end, and a pivot axis. The pivot axis may be located in between the first end and the second end. The first arm may extend from the body proximate the first end. The first arm may be configured to provide a biasing force that biases movement of the body in a first direction about the pivot axis. The second arm may extend from the body proximate the first end. The second arm may be configured to provide an ejection force to a battery.
Abstract: Events and offers based on context is provided by determining an event based on a social media footprint, determining a group of people associated with the event based on the social media footprint, generating an offer based on the group of people and the event; and causing the offer to be displayed to at least one of the group of people.
Abstract: Approaches to both pulling and pushing digital media content, such as movies, electronic books, music, games and the like, are addressed. Hybrid systems are also addressed. A mechanism for selecting particular digital media content by a user, such as a particular movie, for example, is utilized in pull approaches. A mechanism for identifying users who have opted in is employed in push approaches. Digital media content is provided by a media server to one or more high speed wireless radios which transmit that content to users' mobile devices.
Abstract: Various embodiments herein each include at least one of systems, devices, methods, and software for on-demand routing upon location detection. One such embodiment is in the form of a method. This embodiment includes detecting a mobile device is present at a facility and retrieving available order data associated with an account registered with the mobile device. When order data is available and retrieved, the method may then output the order data to facilitate fulfillment of one or more orders included in the retrieved data.

Abstract: A customer uses a customer device to interact with an expert using a remote device in a real-time communication session. The expert drives the interactions and can activate peripherals on the customer device to capture information, which is automatically sent from the customer device to the remote device for consumption by the expert.
Abstract: Dual Self-Service Terminal (SST) Virtual Machines (VMs) are provided. A VM is selected for processing a transaction on the SST as an active core. The active core is dynamically switched back and forth between a first VM and a second VM on a per-transaction basis. Upon failure, a last-successful image for the failing VM is reloaded for the failing VM when the failing VM is scheduled to be cycled back to the active core.
