  • Patent number: 11959370
Abstract: A valve assembly for integration within a wellbore string disposed within a hydrocarbon-containing reservoir is provided. The valve assembly includes a valve housing having a plurality of frac ports for establishing fluid communication between a central passage and the reservoir. The valve assembly includes a bottom sleeve operatively mounted within the valve housing configured to selectively open the frac ports, and a top sleeve operatively mounted within the valve housing slidable between (i) a first position defining a first fluid pathway whereby fluid is flowable down into the central passage and into the reservoir via the frac ports, and (ii) a tracing position defining a second fluid pathway whereby fluid is flowable from the reservoir into an annulus defined between the top sleeve and the housing. The valve assembly also has a tracer compartment defined within the annulus forming part of the second fluid pathway and accommodating a tracer material.

  • Patent number: 11920445
Abstract: A method and system for enhancing petroleum production are provided, in which a fracturing operation can be conducted in a formation through a string and then petroleum is displaced from the fractured formation by selectively injecting fluid into selected fractures in the formation while other non-selected fractures remain without fluid injection. The injected fluid flows out into the fractured formation and enhances recovery from the non-selected fractures. Petroleum is selectively collected from the non-selected fractures.

  • Publication number: 20200190928
Abstract: A rescue dart for deployment down a wellbore to dislodge a pre-set frac plug having a plug mandrel from within the wellbore is provided. The rescue dart includes a dart body adapted to be conveyed down the wellbore via fluid flow and a mandrel defeater connected to the dart body and operable to reduce structural integrity of a portion of the plug mandrel until structural failure of the plug mandrel occurs and the frac plug is unset and dislodged. A corresponding system is also provided. The system includes the rescue dart and a pump for pumping fluids down the wellbore. A method of dislodging a pre-set frac plug using the rescue dart is also provided.

  • Patent number: 9903182
Abstract: A fracturing valve comprising a tubular mandrel having a through bore continuous with a tubing string, and a frac window through the side of the tubular mandrel. An outer sleeve is radially disposed around the tubular mandrel. The outer sleeve includes a sleeve port in a sidewall. The tubular mandrel slides relative to the sleeve by application and release of set down weight on a coiled tubing string. When the valve is closed, there is no fluid communication from the tubing string out of the frac window. When the valve is open, fluid communication from the tubing string is enabled. The valve may be installed in a downhole tool having a perforation device. The tool string can be used with one sealing element as the tool is pulled up the hole isolating lower perforations, or with two sealing elements to allow pin-point treatments isolating perforations both up and downhole.

  • Patent number: 9334714
Abstract: A tool assembly and method for completing a well are provided. The tool includes debris relief features that enable use in solids-laden environments, for example in the presence of sand. Forward and reverse circulation pathways to the isolated interval are present to allow clearing of debris from the wellbore annulus while the sealing device remains set against the wellbore.

  • Patent number: 9303486
Abstract: A tool assembly including an equalization valve allowing for continuous equalization of pressure above and below a sealing element includes a housing having a fluid passageway that is fluidically continuous across a sealing element disposed on a mandrel. The mandrel is part of a sealing assembly that contains the sealing element. The equalization valve includes a valve plug moveable from an open to a seated position wherein the valve plug is seated against the sealing mandrel. The valve plug defines a conduit that provides minimal fluid flow across the sealing element when the valve plug is seated against the sealing mandrel. The equalization valve further includes an outer port for permitting lateral flow of fluid from the tubing string to the annulus defined between the tubing string and the wellbore. The equalization valve may be part of a downhole tool assembly which includes the equalization valve and a sealing assembly.

  • Patent number: 9234412
Abstract: A ported tubular is provided for use in casing a wellbore, to permit selective access to the adjacent formation during completion operations. A system and method for completing a wellbore using the ported tubular are also provided. Ports within the wellbore casing may be opened, isolated, or otherwise accessed to deliver treatment to the formation through the ports, using a tool assembly deployed on tubing or wireline.

  • Patent number: 9140098
Abstract: A depressurization tool is described for use downhole in depressurizing an isolated zone. A decompression chamber containing a compressible fluid volume is described. The opening of the chamber is sealed with a closure that is configured to open upon application of a pressure differential across the opening. When used downhole within an isolated and nonpermeable wellbore zone, excessive ambient pressure will cause the closure to open and allow the chamber to fill with fluid at increased pressure, depressurizing the wellbore zone. The tool is useful in wellbore completion systems that include sliding sleeves.
