  • Publication number: 20150262552
Abstract: In a display device, a signal level detection circuit detects RGB signal levels for each pixel from an image signal, and then a control circuit detects an area using a gray scale of a single color based on RGB signal levels for each pixel. A first color conversion circuit carries out an image correction on an image signal while a second color conversion circuit carries out another image correction-on an image signal. An H/V position control circuit extracts an image signal of an area detected by the control circuit from an image signal subjected to the image correction of the second color conversion circuit. An image superposition circuit superposes the image signal extracted by the H/V position control circuit with the image signal subjected to the image correction of the first color conversion circuit, thus displaying the superposed image signal on a display.

  • Patent number: 9104059
Abstract: An image determination section determines whether an input image signal represents a bright image or a dark image. A control section switches between a first lighting mode in which the output of a power supply section is a first power value and a second lighting mode in which the output of power supply section is a second power value based on the determined result of the image determination section. The control section refers to a first table that contains data representing the relationship between the power value of the power supply section and the number of rotations of a cooling fan in the case in which the output of the power supply section is increased from the second power value to the first power value at a constant rate when the second lighting mode is switched to the first lighting mode.

  • Patent number: 9097934
Abstract: In the disclosed backlight unit, multiple LEDs are arranged as a light source at prescribed intervals on a substrate in a rectangular ring. Light irradiated from the LEDs is diffused through a lens, a prism plate and a diffusion plate, and is transmitted to a liquid crystal panel. There are roughly V-shaped concavities in the incidence surface of the lens, and triangular cross-section prisms for diffusing incident light are further arranged on the incidence surface of the prism plate. The LEDs are arranged on a highly thermally conductive LED cooling pattern, and the LED cooling pattern is in contact with a heat-dispersion housing. For that reason, heat emitted by the LEDs is conducted from the LED cooling pattern to the housing and dispersed to the ambient air. By this means, the backlight unit can save energy and be more compact.
