Patents Assigned to NEC Viewtechnology, Ltd.
  • Patent number: 7448755
Abstract: A three-panel projection display apparatus displays a color image by separating light emitted from a light source into lights of three primaries, i.e., red, green, and blue, with dichroic mirrors, by irradiating liquid crystal light valves with the respective separated lights, by combining the lights modulated by the respective liquid crystal light valves with a cross dichroic prism, and by projecting the combined light through a single projection lens onto a screen. The lengths of the light paths for the separated blue and green lights are equal to each other. The distance between a condenser lens and the liquid crystal light valve in the blue light path is shorter than the distance between a condenser lens and the liquid crystal light valve in the green light path.

  • Patent number: 7429930
Abstract: X-direction double integrator 3 integrates twice an acceleration that is detected by x-direction acceleration sensor 1, estimating a traveled distance in an x direction. Y-direction double integrator 4 integrates twice an acceleration that is detected by y-direction acceleration sensor 2, estimating a traveled distance in a y direction. Detection boundary storage unit 5 stores a monitoring area. Detection boundary comparator 6 determines whether the projector device is positioned outside of the monitoring area or not based on the traveled distance in the x direction which is estimated by x-direction double integrator 3, the traveled distance in the y direction which is estimated by y-direction double integrator 4, and the monitoring area stored in detection boundary storage unit 5.

  • Patent number: 7384152
Abstract: A liquid-cooled projector incorporating cooling a component that to be cooled by a cooling liquid, and moreover, can constantly maintain the temperature of the component to be cooled at a prescribed temperature or below. A liquid-cooling jacket for cooling either one or both of the optical modulation element and cold mirror, which are the components that are to be cooled, one or a plurality of radiators, one or a plurality of reserve tanks, and one or a plurality of circulation pumps are connected together by piping. The components that are to be cooled are maintained at or below the prescribed temperature by circulating the cooling liquid through the system, which can further be separated at any position by couplers. By collecting the air that is generated in the cooling system in the reserve tank, idle running of the circulation pump can be prevented, and the effect of expansion and shrinkage in the volume of the cooling liquid can be mitigated.

  • Patent number: 7382538
Abstract: An optical unit has a first lens holder holding a first lens and a second lens holder holding a second lens, the first lens holder and the second lens holder being mounted on a common lens base. The first lens holder is movable in the direction of one side of the exit end face of a light tunnel, and the second lens holder is movable in the direction of another side, adjacent to the one side, of the exit end face of a light tunnel. The first lens holder and the second lens holder are independently moved to bring an illuminating light area on a DMD, as an image forming device, into alignment with an image forming area on the DMD. The illuminating light area can thus be accurately positioned in the image forming area on the DMD. The optical unit has a high light utilization efficiency and can easily be operated for positional adjustment of the illuminating light area. The optical unit is incorporated in a projection display apparatus.

  • Patent number: 7367678
Abstract: A single-plate color projector includes a color wheel for chromatically separating light emitted from a light source in time series. An image forming device optically modulates each separated color light in sequence. A driving mechanism rotates the color wheel in a circumferential direction. A reflective marker is rotated together with the color wheel. A detector circuit detects movement of the reflective marker to generate a signal. A driving mechanism control circuit drives the driving mechanism in synchronization with the signal generated by the detector circuit. An image forming device control circuit drives the image forming device in synchronization with the signal generated by the detector circuit, and a time adjusting mechanism moves either the reflective marker or the detector circuit or both the reflective marker and the detector circuit to change a relative positional relationship therebetween.

  • Patent number: 7275835
Abstract: A projector according to the present invention comprises a lamp driving control circuit for driving an ultra-high pressure mercury lamp at a driving frequency which is changed within an allowable frequency range. For example, the lamp driving control circuit may randomly select a frequency within the allowable frequency range, or modulate the highest frequency within the allowable frequency range such that the frequency is reduced, to change the driving frequency. Consequently, the driving frequency for a fixed pixel panel is not in synchronization with the driving frequency for the ultra-high pressure mercury lamp, and the driving frequency for the ultra-high pressure mercury lamp is changed within the allowable frequency range, causing variations in location at which flicker occurs during projection of an image. Such flicker is less perceivable to human's eyes due to the human's visual characteristics.
