  • Patent number: 10252892
Abstract: A four cable operated scissors grab, comprising a pair of scissor levers that are connected via a pivot joint to pivot about a pivoting axis, which scissor levers each include a grab shell and a hoist cable connection situated on a first side of the lever with respect to the pivot joint, and a closing cable connection situated on a second side of the lever that is opposite with respect to the pivot joint, so that in use a dedicated hoisting cable is fastened to each lever on the first side of the lever, and a dedicated closing cable is fastened to each lever at the second side of the lever. The scissor levers each include a sheave on the second side of the lever, and said sheaves are each arranged as a first and final closing sheave, so that in use each of the two closing cables extend in a single pass from a closing cable connection on the second side of one lever via the closing sheave on the second side of the other lever to depart from the grab and continue upward to a crane carrying the grab.

  • Patent number: 4538848
Abstract: A grab comprising two grab buckets (2,3) pivoted together by means of plate-like carrier arms (15,16,22,23) mounted on a pivotal shaft (8). The carrier arms (15,16,22,23) extend from the bottom of a bucket to beyond the pivotal shaft (8) and are substantially parallel to each other. The carrier arms (15,16) of one bucket (2) are located on opposite sides of a median plane perpendicular to the pivotal shaft. The two carrier arms (15,16) are interconnected at least at their ends (19) and provided with guide pulleys and "close" pulleys (11,12) for guiding the closing ropes (6). The ends (27,28) of the carrier arms (22,23) of the other bucket (3) are made of double-walled construction by means of stiffening plates (25,26) connected to them in spaced relationship thereto. The carrier arms are arranged to pass by each other, so that the grab can be fully opened (FIG. 2b). Closing ropes (6) are secured to the ends of the carrier arms (22,23) of the other bucket (3).

  • Patent number: 4395066
Abstract: A grab comprising a pair of buckets interconnected by way of arms capable of pivoting movement relative to each other, and the free ends of which are provided with sheaves for guiding operating or closing ropes by which the buckets can be opened and closed. The rear edges of the buckets are secured by way of ropes or the like to a cross-beam, to which the hoist ropes are connected. According to the invention, the arms are provided at some distance from their free ends with arcuate bridge members or elevations, directed to one another, which roll one over the other as the grab buckets are opened and closed.

  • Patent number: 4176872
Abstract: A grab or the like substantially comprising a frame or upper structure having for each grab bucket pivoting levers, at the end of which there is positioned the pivot point of a grab bucket, while each grab bucket can furthermore be pulled by means of a rope to the opened position and via a lever system connected to a pulley block movable in the frame, into the closing position, whereby each grab bucket is connected through a pair of levers to a pulley block such that, in the opened position of the grab buckets, this can form an angle of 180.degree., while the grab buckets, in an intermediate position of the movable pulley block, sealingly abut against the lower and side boundary edges.

  • Patent number: 4143901
Abstract: A mechanical grab consisting essentially of a frame within which round-bottomed scoops with straight-walled sides can be rotated about an axis in such a manner that, when the grab shuts, the mutually facing walls of the scoops are upwardly movable in overlapping relationship while the relative speed with which each of the scoops rotates about its axis is different.
