Patent number: 10588576Abstract: Described are methods and a device for determining a valid intrinsic alpha frequency. Described herein are methods and a device for determining the appropriate intrinsic alpha frequency (IAF) to be applied for neuro-EEG synchronization therapy using alternating magnetic fields to gently “tune” the brain and affect the mood, focus and cognition of subjects. Methods and a device described herein use an algorithm to quantitatively analyze EEG recordings to determine if recorded EEG frequencies are valid, and if necessary, requiring additional recordings and analysis until a valid EEG is found. Methods and devices described herein can be utilized to calculate the intrinsic frequency of other EEG bands, including the Theta, Beta Gamma and Delta bands.Type: GrantFiled: August 14, 2015Date of Patent: March 17, 2020Assignee: NeoSync, Inc.Inventors: James William Phillips, Yi Jin

Patent number: 9649502Abstract: Described herein, in certain embodiments, are devices and methods for modulating the electrical activity of a brain in a targeted manner using a weak magnetic field, generally field with a strength of less than about 100 Gauss. The magnetic field is varied over time in a periodic manner, generally with a frequency tuned to specifically affect one of the intrinsic frequencies of the brain, optionally the alpha frequency. The “Low Field Magnetic Stimulation” devices and methods described herein modulate the electrical activity of a brain without requiring medication. Methods and devices described herein gently “tune” the brain and affect mood, focus, and cognition of human subjects.Type: GrantFiled: November 13, 2012Date of Patent: May 16, 2017Assignee: NEOSYNC, INC.Inventors: James William Phillips, Yi Jin
