The lifter may comprise a first frame member, a second frame member, a drive system and a first cable. The first frame member may be coupled to the first section of the spa cover. The second frame member may be coupled to the second section of the spa cover, and the first and second frame members may be coupled to one another about the hinge interface. The first cable may extend from the drive mechanism to the first frame member.
