The data collection agent includes an acquisition device to acquire data related to at least one of: service coverage for the at least one available network; service quality for the at least one available network; usage for the at least one available network; and system data from the mobile device, and a transmitter to send the acquired data to a web server.

Abstract: Mobile device tracker and method for tracking movement of mobile devices within a mobile communications environment. The mobile device tracker includes an acquisition device to periodically acquire location data for the mobile device within the mobile communications environment, and a plotter to identify on a map of a geographical region within which the mobile communications environment is located the location data for the mobile device.

Abstract: Controller coupled to a mobile communications environment including at least one of a public and a private network and method of controlling a mobile device in the mobile communications environment. The controller includes a receiver that receives data about network operating parameters at specific locations within the at least one of a public and private network, a processor that evaluates the data about the network operating parameters at the specific locations based upon rules for the mobile device, and a transmitter that sends advisories to a mobile device located within a predetermined proximity to one of the specific locations about the network operating parameters.

Abstract: Method for discovering a mobile host that roams across wireless networks, each wireless network comprising a mobile router and the mobile routers being coupled to a gateway. The method includes receiving a packet comprising an address of the mobile host within one of the wireless networks; and determining whether the address of the mobile host resolves to be within a subnet of mobile hosts manageable by the mobile router of the one wireless network. When both the address of the mobile host resolve to be within the subnet of mobile hosts manageable by the mobile router of the one wireless network, the method further includes adding the address of the mobile host to a table of registered mobile hosts for the mobile router of the one wireless network, the packet comprising a dynamic host configuration protocol (DHCP) lease request for the mobile host.

Abstract: A mobile router offers seamless roaming services to one or more locally connected mobile hosts over one or more simultaneously connected networks. The mobile router, as well as its local area network, roams across different subnets on similar networks, across networks that are dissimilar, or across a simultaneous combination of both. Simultaneous support is provided for mobile hosts configured for static IP addressing and mobile hosts configured for dynamic IP addressing. Seamless support is provided for mobile hosts that dynamically migrate from one mobile router to another mobile router, while avoiding the need for configuration settings on the mobile router that are associated with individual mobile hosts and avoiding the need for mobility support software on the mobile hosts themselves.

Abstract: An system for controlling access to a network by a user device. The system includes a criteria engine that generates a plurality of criteria to be monitored on the user device and a checker that generates at least one check for each of the plurality of criteria. The system further includes a profiler that retrieves a profile for the user device, the profile including the plurality of criteria and the at least one check for each of the plurality of criteria, a comparator that compares a summary of the retrieved profile to a summary of a profile received from the user device and a communicator that communicates a message to the user device based on the comparison.
