  • Patent number: 7743128
Abstract: Techniques for visualizing and monitoring the quality of service for a computer network. Herein, a method and system monitor network transactions and behaviors for the computing network, which computing network includes one or more client subnets accessing one or more servers, The monitoring may be independent of client site monitors. Statistical data is gathered for relating to at least the network, the server, and the applications for generating a plurality of measurements. The measurements assess at least one quality of service indicator associated with the performance of the computer network. The method and system graphically display the plurality of measurements of the quality of service indicator according to the date and time of gathering the statistical data and further display graphically the degree by which each of the measurements of the quality of service indicator varies from a predetermined threshold quality of service level for the computing network.

Abstract: A command line interface that is imbedded within a program can be implemented to any graphical user interface. An exemplary storage medium that is coupled to the processor such that the processor can read information from, and write information to, the storage medium. Herein, a method and system for providing an imbedded command line interface from within a program's graphical user interface that allows repetitive tasks to be more easily automated without the use of a mouse. The data can be formatted and filtered with only keyboard interaction such that command sequences are flexible and can be reused in the future. The method and system enable easier access to commands requiring multiple clicks and quicker command input over existing graphical user interfaces. In exemplary embodiments of the present invention, the technical user can more easily share and distribute command routines and more easily diagnose issues.

  • Publication number: 20080250218
Abstract: A method, system, and computer program manager for a computing system memory in the operation of a computing process. At least one memory segment provides memory resources for the computing process, which includes a plurality of memory objects, each of the memory objects includes an equal number of bytes and has a predetermined order that associates the address of the memory object in the memory segment to the addresses of the remainder of the plurality of memory objects. A pointer identifies a first memory object from the plurality of memory objects. The first memory object occupies a first ordered position according to the predetermined order. The process allocates the first memory objects from the memory segment during the operation of the computing process. The pointer increments to a second memory object having a second ordered position relative to the first memory object.

  • Publication number: 20080250497
Abstract: An anomaly detection method and system determine network status by monitoring network activity. A statistics based profile for said network over a period is generated to analyze potentially anomalous network activity to determine if said network activity is anomalous by comparing current activity against the profile. Using the profile as a reference, the anomaly detection system and process estimate and prioritize potentially anomalous network activity based on the probability that the behavior is anomalous. The level of severity that the anomaly detection process uses to determine if an alarm is needed is based on comparing user-adjustable thresholds to the current probability. If the threshold has been breached, the user is alerted, subject to other quality checks. After a reporting cycle concludes, the anomaly detection system and process recompiles the statistics based profile to take into account the information observed in the previous reporting cycle.
