Abstract: A system and method to manage a network by monitoring an interface of the network. The system comprises a poller, a server, and a database. The poller checks the interface through a poller query message to the interface. Upon suspected failure, the poller sends an alert signal to the server notifying the server that the interface may be failing. The server may send out a server query signal to the interface and monitor the response to determine if a failure occurred. The database contains information concerning the interface. When the server determines that the interface has failed, the server pulls information concerning the interface and sends an alarm signal to a client application module.
