Abstract: A detachable and adjustable chair canopy is configured to provide shade for a seated user while allowing a chair to be used in both upright and reclined positions. The canopy includes a first frame attachable to the chair back by tool-less clamp assemblies and a second frame supporting a canopy panel pivotally connected to the first frame. Each clamp assembly includes a resilient C-shaped clamp and a locking hub that permits rotation of the canopy relative to the chair and selective locking at a desired orientation. A pair of pivot couplers are slidingly mounted on the first frame and pivotally connected to struts extending to the second frame, each pivot coupler having a hand-operated toggle lever for selective locking. The canopy can be folded to a compact stowed position behind the chair back without removal and reoriented to maintain shading coverage across multiple reclining positions of the chair.
