  • Patent number: 7191580
Abstract: An apparatus for depositing a filament tow in a stationary can. To this end, the filament tow is conveyed to the can by a conveyance means which includes a pair of driven reels. For deposition into the can, the filament tow is guided in such a way that the feed position of the filament tow in the can constantly changes. To allow the filament tow to be deposited with a high filling density, for deposition into the can the filament tow is guided by two separate oscillating motions of the conveyance means during conveying which are transverse to the conveyance direction. In this manner, undesired reactions on the filament tow are advantageously avoided during deposition.

  • Patent number: 6918751
Abstract: The invention relates to a device and method for melt spinning and cooling a filament bundle. To this end, the device comprises a spinning device with an annular spinneret for extruding the filament bundle as well as a cooling unit arranged below the spinning device. The cooling unit comprises a holding device and a coolant dispersing head that is connected to said holding device. In an operating position, said coolant dispersing head is substantially centered relative to the spinneret with contact between the spinning device and the holding device. The coolant dispersing head can be guided into a standby position at a distance from the spinneret. According to the invention, a movable shielding means is arranged laterally of the coolant dispersing head and can be moved between an initial position laterally of the coolant dispersing head and a shielding position directly underneath the spinneret.

  • Patent number: 6902384
Abstract: An apparatus for melt spinning and cooling a group of filaments comprising a spinning device with an annular spinneret and a cooling device arranged below the spinning device. The cooling device comprises a holder that is connected to a coolant dispersing head. The coolant dispersing head is centered relative to the spinneret with contact between the spinning device and the holder in an operating position. The coolant dispersing head can be guided into a standby position at a distance from the spinneret. A guide tube encloses the coolant dispersing head in the manner of a jacket with a clearance and which is open at its end facing toward the spinning device. The guide tube and coolant dispersing head are displaceable relative to one another in axial direction to produce an air stream at the blowing end of the guide tube during transition from the standby position to the operating position.

  • Patent number: 6890166
Abstract: A spinning-drawing-texturing machine for producing crimped threads is described, comprising a spinning device, a drawing device, a texturing device, and a take-up device. A plurality of threads spun by the spinning device is assigned to the drawing device, the texturing device, and the take-up device. According to the present invention, the drawing device and the texturing device are arranged in a processing module and the take-up device in a winding module underneath the spinning device. The processing module and the winding module are erected side by side and form one long side of the machine. This ensures a configuration divided by functional groups, which facilitates operation and increases operational reliability.

  • Patent number: 6872339
    Abstract: A device and a method for the melt spinning and depositing of a plurality of tows (5.1, 5.2, . . . , 5.n) utilizes several spinning devices (1.1, 1.2, . . . , 1.n) by means of which one of the tows 5.1, 5.2, . . . , 5.n is produced from a filament bundle (4.1, 4.2, . . . , 4.n). Each spinning device (1.1, 2.2, . . . , 1.n) is associated with a respective drawing-off device and a respective can depositing device (3.1, 3.2, . . . , 3.n) so that each of the tows (5.1, 5.2, . . . , 5.n) can be deposited individually in a respective can (19.1, 19.2, . . . , 19.n).

  • Patent number: 6787957
Abstract: A godet roll for guiding, heating and conveying yarn on the circumference of a hollow-cylindrical godet roll casing. The godet roll casing is seated on a projecting support by at least one magnetic bearing having bearing pole windings, and a heating device with heating pole windings is arranged on the support. Some bearing pole windings and at least one heating pole winding are arranged together in one bearing plane, so that the bearing areas can be heated. Sensors provided for detecting the position of the godet roll casing are arranged outside of an annular chamber formed between the godet roll casing and the support in order to prevent a thermal overload of the sensors.

  • Patent number: 6758121
Abstract: A device for cutting a fiber cable, in which a rotationally driven cutter supporting member and a rotatable pressing ring positioned at an incline relative to the cutter supporting member work together to cut the fiber cable. An annular channel formed on the outer circumference of the cutter supporting member is penetrated by a plurality of radially oriented cutting blades. The cutting blades are held in a cutter receiving member of a holding device, wherein a supporting ring radially supports the cutting blades. The width of the cutting blades is larger than the width of the annular channel. In order to consecutively use several areas of the cutting blades, the supporting ring is replaceable and is formed by an outer ring encircling the cutting blades or by an inner ring encircling the cutting blades. The cutting blades are held in the cutter receiving member and are radially moveable.

  • Patent number: 6707201
Abstract: A cylinder for guiding yarn comprises a hollow-cylindrical jacket seated on a support by radially acting magnetic bearings having plural pole windings distributed circumferentially. The cylinder jacket position is detected by plural sensors coupled with the pole windings by a control unit. The sensors are spaced from the cylinder jacket and from the support for determining the actual position of the cylinder jacket relative to a stationary reference position. Vibrations of the cylinder jacket are damped by determining the actual position of the cylinder jacket in relation to a stationary reference position and the chronological change of the actual position as a function of the rotary frequency of the cylinder jacket. Control signals for the magnetic bearing are generated to cause the magnetic bearing to counteract the position change of the cylinder jacket.
