Patent number: 8875132Abstract: A computer system apparatus includes a first virtual machine hosted by a first physical machine. A target machine is communicatively coupled to the first virtual machine. The target machine is one of another physical machine and another virtual machine. The first virtual machine serves as a virtual proxy for the target machine.Type: GrantFiled: May 31, 2011Date of Patent: October 28, 2014Assignee: Neverfail Group LimitedInventor: Patrick Terence Falls

Patent number: 8633838Abstract: Methods and apparatus for compressing data for network transport in support of continuous availability of applications are described. One computer-implemented method of compressing data includes receiving a current instance of data in an input buffer. A candidate chunk of data is selected from the input buffer. A signature hash is computed from a signature length range of data within the candidate chunk. A matching dictionary entry having a matching signature hash from a multi-tiered dictionary is identified. The matching dictionary entry prospectively identifies a location of a prior occurrence of a selected range of consecutive symbols including the signature length range of data within at least one of the current instance of data and a prior instance of data in the input buffer. A dedupe processed representation of the instance of data is formed wherein a dedupe item is substituted for the selected range of consecutive symbols if the selected range is verified as recurring.Type: GrantFiled: January 15, 2010Date of Patent: January 21, 2014Assignee: Neverfail Group LimitedInventors: Patrick Terence Falls, Lyndon John Clarke, Wouter Senf

Patent number: 8589727Abstract: Methods and apparatus for providing continuous availability include communicatively coupling a first node and a second node, each having at least one processor, an executing application management framework, and a first application. The first node is executing its associated first application. A plugin for the first node application management framework is executed. The plugin is dynamically loadable by the application management framework. The plugin specifies application availability rules for protecting the availability of the first application.Type: GrantFiled: February 4, 2009Date of Patent: November 19, 2013Assignee: Neverfail Group LimitedInventors: Robert Adam Fletcher, Scott Cumming, Cristian Libotean, Mihai Cozma, Stuart Moore, Thomas Stones

Patent number: 7788524Abstract: Recovery systems and methods for sustaining the operation of a plurality of networked computers (20a,20b) in the event of a fault conditions are described. The basic recovery system comprises a plurality of virtual machines (31a,31b) installed on a recovery computer (30), each virtual machine being arranged to emulate a corresponding networked computer, and the recovery computer being arranged, in the event of a detected failure of one of the networked computers, to activate and use the virtual machine which corresponds to the failed networked computer (20). The recovery computer (30) may be located on the same network (12) as the networked computers (20), or alternatively on a remotely located local network in case of failure of the entire local network (12).Type: GrantFiled: June 26, 2008Date of Patent: August 31, 2010Assignee: Neverfail Group LimitedInventors: Keith Wing, Christopher Fitzpatrick, Wouter Senf
