Abstract: This invention provides processes for making three-dimensional signage. In one embodiment, a process is provided for making raised graphic signage. In this embodiment, a profile material is adhered to a substrate materials with an adhesive which: (a) bonds firmly enough to hold the profile and substrate materials together during the process, (b) permits the profile and substrate material to be separated after the process is completed, and (c) cures to form a more permanent bond after the profile and substrate materials have been separated. Then, an outline of a desired graphic is cut completely through the profile material. That portion of the profile material which does not constitute the outlined graphic is then separated form the substrate material, before the adhesive forms a permanent bond. In another embodiment, a process is provided for making recessed graphic signage.

A tool holder is supported by the pantograph. The tool holder is prevented from pivoting so that inscribed lines will have different widths.

Abstract: The nameplate device includes a shadow box mounted on a support. A spacer is secured to the center of the rear wall of the shadow box and to the rear face of an engraved plate. The engraved plate is parallel to the rear wall and spaced evenly from the side walls of the shadow box in a manner so that the details of how the plate is attached to the rear wall are concealed.

Abstract: Engraving apparatus for engraving the inner periphery of a circular object such as a ring or band is provided with a tool holder which supports the engraving tool. A fiber optic bundle is supported by the tool holder and has one end exposed adjacent the engraving tool. A source of illumination communicates with the other end of the fiber optic bundle.

Abstract: An engraving machine for rings and bangle bracelets is disclosed. The machine is of the type that utilizes a circular pattern carrier rotatably carried on the base of the machine. The patterns, which are carried on the periphery of the carrier, are transferred to the inner surface of a ring or bangle bracelet by way of a pantograph lever having a stylus adjacent the pattern carrier and an engraving tool adjacent the inner surface of the ring or bangle bracelet. A workholder assembly is utilized to position the ring or bangle bracelet during the engraving process. The entire workholder assembly is vertically slideable along two horizontally disposed rods, which are secured to a carrier frame. A peripheral indexable ratchet wheel is rotatably mounted to the workholder assembly and carries on it a plurality of clamping chucks which hold the rings or bangle bracelets in position. The clamping chucks are axially slideable within slots in the ratchet wheel and have interchangeable jigs removably secured to them.

Abstract: An engraving machine is disclosed for engraving articles in a manner which automatically causes relative rotation between an engraving tool and the article support means as a function of the width of a digit (letter of alphabet or numeral) to be engraved so that digits may be engraved on the article with uniform space between digits regardless of the width of the digit.
