Abstract: The present invention is directed to a horizontally extendable silt fence. The present invention is also directed to a silt fence system comprising a horizontally extendable silt fence comprising a water permeable geotextile material having an upper edge and a lower edge, and a plurality of posts comprising an upper portion strutted and arranged to be coupled with the upper edge of the water permeable geotextile material, a lower portion structured and arranged to be coupled with the lower edge of the water permeable geotextile material, and an anchor portion structured and arranged to be driven into the ground to anchor the post. Also disclosed is a method of filtering silt from a fluid stream.

Abstract: Multiple-can aerosol puncturing systems that are capable of puncturing multiple aerosol cans in a single operation are disclosed. A can holder with multiple chambers and a movable lid are used to contain the aerosol cans. A vertically movable actuation plate with multiple hollow puncturing pins is raised toward the can holder to puncture the lids of the aerosol cans. The heights of the puncturing pins may be staggered in order to puncture the lids sequentially during the same draining operation.

Abstract: Oil-absorbent skimmers of the present invention include an upper oil-absorbent flotation head that floats on water and several absorbent strands attached to the underside of the flotation head. The flotation head has a liquid-permeable cover with absorbent strips inside. The absorbent strips and strands are made of oil-absorbing materials that resist absorption of water. The passive oil-absorbent skimmers may be free-floating and may be used in stormwater catch basins, water holding tanks, vaults, sumps, bilges and the like for capturing hydrocarbons such as oil and oil-based liquids.

Abstract: Multiple-tube stormwater filter socks may be used to mitigate stormwater environmental runoff of sediment, hydrocarbons and heavy metals. The stormwater filter socks comprise at least two tubes that are spaced apart by a separator web, and are filled with different types of absorbent media. The stormwater filter socks may be placed around the top grate of a storm drain chamber, and around other environmental runoff sources such as trash bins, roof downspouts and outdoor material stockpiles. The multiple-tube stormwater filter socks may be used to mitigate drips and spills of hydrocarbons such as motor oils, and may be used to contain zinc, copper, lead, chromium, cadmium and other heavy metals.

Abstract: Stormwater drain insert assemblies that reduce or remove environmental runoff during rain storms and the like are disclosed. The stormwater drain insert assemblies include a strainer basket and filter bag that capture sediment, hydrocarbons, heavy metals and other contaminants, but allow water to pass through. The stormwater drain insert assemblies include a top bib of flexible sheet material such as water-impermeable fabric surrounding and supporting the strainer basket. The strainer basket includes at least one raised overflow port extending upwardly from a top panel of the basket. The top bib has a frame that may be adjustable in size in order to fit into various sizes of catch basins, resting on the lip between the top grate and the catch basin.
Abstract: Stormwater drain inserts that reduce or eliminate environmental runoff during rain storms and the like are described. The stormwater drain inserts are water permeable, but capture sediment, hydrocarbons, heavy metals and other contaminants. The stormwater drain inserts are adjustable in size in order to fit into various sizes of storm drain chambers, resting on the lip between the top grate and the chamber. The stormwater drain inserts include a top bib with a central sediment bag extending downward therefrom. Overflow ports are provided in the sediment bag, and an inwardly extending overhang ring directs incoming water flow away from the overflow ports as it enters the sediment bag. The top bib, sediment bag and overhang ring may be made of water permeable oleniphilic fabric that helps trap oils and other hydrocarbons.

Abstract: Drive-over berm systems that protect raised sections of protective containment liners from truck and heavy equipment damage are disclosed. A ramped outer berm abuts an elevated portion of the liner, which may be raised to a desired height by an insert positioned under the liner. A ramped inner berm may about the elevated portion of the liner, and a connector plate may be used to secure the outer and inner ramped berms together. The height of the raised portion of the liner is selected to provide the desired sump capacity of the containment area. The inner berm and/or outer berm may be provided in sections that can be connected end-to-end.

Abstract: Overpack drum assemblies are disclosed. The overpack drum assemblies include a container base and a lid that may be securely closed on the base within a range of acceptable closure positions that may be visually indicated. The lid may include at least one leverage bracket for receiving a bar or other leverage tool that facilitates tightening and loosening of the lid. The container base may include at least one indented anti-rotation notch to help secure the container base against rotation during tightening or loosening of the lid. An anti-rotation fixture may be used to resist rotation of the container base.

Abstract: Protective drain covers, include stiffening members at one end or at opposing ends to increase rigidity in one direction while leaving the other direction flexible. The increased rigidity in the one direction improves the ability to handle and accurately position the protective drain cover for use, while the flexibility in the other direction allows the protective drain cover to be rolled up for storage and future use. The stiffening member(s) can be used as hand-holds to assist in the placement of the heavy protective drain cover and then removal of protective drain cover after use.
Abstract: Portable collapsible fluid containment devices are disclosed comprising sidewall support braces that rotate from a collapsed generally horizontal position to a raised generally vertical position and lock into place. The sidewall braces may be attached to at least one sidewall of the containment device, and when raised support the sidewall in a fluid containment configuration. The sidewall braces comprise a base support leg, a sidewall support arm rotatably mounted on the support leg, and a locking tab for holding the sidewall support arm in the generally vertical position.
