Patent number: 5798707Abstract: A pager operated control unit has input terminals of the control circuit are connected to the battery terminals of the pager and power is supplied to the pager receiver from the control circuit. Pager generated pulses are detected by the detection of changes in current drawn by the pager receiver. The control unit includes a pair of capacitors which are alternately charged under the control of a flip-flop in response to bursts of pulses generated by a pager receiver. An output relay is operated to one state when the charges on the two capacitors substantially equal, indicating the receipt of a burst of pulses of equal duration, and operated to another state when the capacitors have unequal charges, indicating the receipt of a burst of pulses of unequal duration.Type: GrantFiled: December 12, 1995Date of Patent: August 25, 1998Assignee: New Product Development, Inc.Inventor: Arthur J. Patent number: 5793874Abstract: A volume control device is inserted in the circuit between the output of a sound system amplifier and a speaker. The volume control device measures ambient noise in the music environment and adjusts the power transferred to the speaker, such that the output volume of the speaker increases and decreases with changes in the ambient noise. A variable throughput current device, such as a thermistor or a transistor, is connected in the speaker circuit to control a power transfer to the speaker. A comparator compares the output of an ambient noise detector with the signal applied to the speaker and the variable throughput current device is adjusted in accordance with the compared signals. A level detect circuit serves to maintain the speaker volume at a preset level when the amplifier output drops below a predefined signal level. The speaker may be provided with a sensing coil generating an output signal representative of the level of ambient noise in the vicinity of the speaker.Type: GrantFiled: April 28, 1995Date of Patent: August 11, 1998Assignee: New Product Development, Inc.Inventor: Arthur J. Patent number: 5732999Abstract: An infant activity center includes a bolster of a shape that will at least partially encircle an infant while providing an elevated playing surface. Preferably U-shaped, the bolster is made up of a plurality of dense foam pad sections encased and united in a removable, washable outer cover. A padded seating portion substantially traverses a center region defined by the pad sections. The upper surface of the cushion preferably includes a variety of toys secured thereto. The foam pad sections may include compartments or recesses for cups, toys or other items.Type: GrantFiled: April 25, 1996Date of Patent: March 31, 1998Assignee: Item New Product Development, Inc.Inventor: Aidan J. Patent number: 5623249Abstract: Motion is detected from a surveillance monitor by means of a photosensor attached to the monitor screen and an electric circuit connected to the sensor which generates an alarm signal in response to changes in the level of an electric output signal generated by the sensor. The sensor is housed within a suction cup which is readily attached to any part of the screen and is readily movable to any desired area of the screen to be monitored for motion. The electric circuit includes comparators which detect changes in light intensity greater than a predetermined magnitude defined by a window about a preselected voltage level. The circuit includes an operational amplifier and a transistor connected to the output of the sensor and the circuit provides an effective impedance equal to the impedance of the sensing device at various levels of intensity such that the reference voltage level, for detection purposes, is the same at all levels of steady state light intensity.Type: GrantFiled: January 26, 1995Date of Patent: April 22, 1997Assignee: New Product Development, Inc.Inventor: Arthur J. Patent number: 5503458Abstract: A portable infant chair includes upper and lower resilient wire frame members. The upper frame member is made up of a back and seat support portion and a lower leg support portion, and the lower frame member is made up of a ground-engaging portion with opposite sides terminating in upwardly and rearwardly inclined portions. Rotational connectors secure upper extremities of the inclined portions to the upper frame member such that the sides of the lower frame member are selectively movable between erect and collapsed orientations. The sides of the lower frame member fold inwardly in crossed overlying relation to one another against the upper frame member in the collapsed orientation. A cross member includes one end pivotally connected to a rearward end of a first of the sides and an opposite end provided with a clip for detachable engagement with either a latch bracket on a rearward end of a second of the sides in an erect orientation or alternatively with the first side in a collapsed orientation.Type: GrantFiled: July 2, 1993Date of Patent: April 2, 1996Assignee: Item New Product Development, Inc.Inventor: Aidan J. Patent number: 5451093Abstract: An infant seat unit includes a seat or harness disposed on a table, the table being resiliently mounted on a base unit at spaced circumferential intervals displaced away from the seat itself so that the seat and table are free to bounce up and down with respect to the base, and the seat also can be made to be rotatable with respect to the base.Type: GrantFiled: March 11, 1994Date of Patent: September 19, 1995Assignee: Item New Product Development, Inc.Inventors: Aiden J. Patent number: 4589572Abstract: A dispensing assembly (10) for dispensing a highly viscous fluid from a container (12) having a sealed dispensing end (18) including a base member (24) having a first passageway (26) and a nozzle member (28) slidably mounted on the base member (24) and including a second passageway (30). A plug (32) reversibly seals off fluid flow between the passageways (26,30). A plurality of spokes (34) extend substantially radially inwardly from the base member (24) to the plug (32) defining a plurality of openings therebetween for allowing unobstructed forward flow of fluid therethrough.Type: GrantFiled: June 20, 1983Date of Patent: May 20, 1986Assignee: New Product Development, Inc.Inventor: Thomas Pomarolli

Patent number: 4042975Abstract: A pair of protective plates are releasably secured to the back side of a glove. One plate covers the back of the hand and the other plate covers the lower portions of the fingers. The two plates are spaced apart to allow freedom of movement of the knuckles at the base of the fingers, but the plates are spaced sufficiently close to each other to protect these knuckles. When used with a batter's glove the plates conform to the curved configuration of the hands while gripping a bat, and the plates are configured so as to prevent interference between them when the bat is swung. For other uses, such as motorcross, the plates have a slightly different configuration.Type: GrantFiled: April 1, 1976Date of Patent: August 23, 1977Assignee: New Products Development, Inc.Inventors: Albert Winslow Elliott, Jr., Albert W.
