Abstract: A packaging article constructed in accordance with the invention is provided which is formed and shipped in a flat shape, and which may be converted into a rigid L-shaped, U-shaped, triangular or square/rectangular shipping or storage container for the protection of articles during shipping and storage. The packaging article is constructed using a rigid but pliable member to allow for ease in formation and handling, but after formation into an L-shaped, U-shaped or other shaped shipping or storage container, to produce a rigid storage structure or tube.

Abstract: A laminate wrap constructed in accordance with the invention is provided which is formed and shipped in a flat shape, and which may be converted into a rigid L, U or square/rectangular shipping or storage container for the protection of long articles during shipping and storage. The laminate wrap is constructed to allow for ease in formation and handling, but after formation into an L, U or other shaped shipping or storage container, to produce a rigid storage structure or tube.

Abstract: A method for forming a corrugated paperboard and a container made therefrom is provided. The corrugated paper is formed with a first layer of flat paperboard to which a second layer of contoured paperboard is attached. The contoured layer of paperboard is further formed with a plurality of flutes, each flute including a first flute tip and a second flute tip, the flute being substantially vertical at the midpoint between the flute tips. The method of forming the corrugated paperboard container comprises placing the corrugated paperboard into a stamping dye which has a male dye portion and a female cavity shaped in the shape of which the paperboard is to be formed. The paperboard is then pressed between the dye and the cavity to apply a pressure to the paperboard. Heat is also applied to the paperboard simultaneously with the application of pressure. The dye is then removed from the cavity and the paperboard container is formed.

Abstract: A method for forming a corrugated paperboard container and a container made therefrom having a first layer of flat paperboard to which is attached a second layer of contoured paperboard, said contoured layer having a plurality of flutes, each said flute including a first flute tip and a second flute tip, the flute rise being substantially vertical at the midpoint between said flute tips, said forming method comprising, placing the corrugated paperboard into a stamping die, the stamping die having a male die and a female cavity shaped in the shape in which the paperboard is to be formed; pressing the paperboard between the die and the cavity to apply a pressure to the paperboard; applying heat to the paperboard simultaneously with said application of pressure; and removing said die from the cavity.
