Abstract: The current invention combines use of existing package themoforming, either wet, dry or injection molding to create a base tray for the medical device or products. This base is made from plant based material such as Bamboo, Bagasse, Tapioca and or other sustainable plant based materials. The inside and or the inside and outside of the Base tray is then coated with a film that is either plant based or petroleum based. This film coating creates a functional microbial barrier preventing bacterial from moving through from the outside of the base tray to the inside of the base tray where the sterile medical device or surgical product is housed, The base tray (bottom) can then be used with a either paper or Tyvek or other materials lidding (top) that will be sealed to the base tray for the purposes product sterilization.

  • Patent number: 9820739
Abstract: A surgical stapler includes a handle assembly 80 made of paper pulp products or other eco-friendly material. The handle assembly and components of the staple mechanism housing are designed to accommodate the decreased material strength of the handle assembly. Handle retainer ears 110 are attached to the staple mechanism housing and prevent flexing of the lever grip. The retainer ears in combination with a raised circular boss 16 of the handle assembly facilities the use of lower strength materials, such as paper pulp products. An efficient staple housing mechanism includes a new return spring 120, a visual guide rod or alignment indicator 150 and a flattened stapler guide 130. An improved lever grip includes concentrically trimmed arc in the lever grip sidewalls 117. An improved lever grip includes an extended arched rear section 113 to comport with a new positive mating area 115 of the handle.

  • Patent number: 9226749
Abstract: A surgical stapler uses a sheath 1 to protect a handle assembly 80 made of paper pulp products or other eco-friendly material. The sheath includes seams 3 and grip tabs 2 and encloses the handle assembly while the handle assembly is attached to a staple mechanism housing 15. After surgical use or exposure to biohazards, the grip tabs 2 of the sheath may be pulled, uncovering the handle assembly, separating the handle assembly from the staple mechanism housing and allowing the protected handle assembly to be dropped into clean bin container for eco-friendly recycling. The handle assembly and components of the staple mechanism housing are designed to account for the decreased material strength of the recyclable handle assembly. After use, the fouled sheath and staple mechanism housing are disposed in traditional methods.
