  • Patent number: 9232364
Abstract: A method, apparatus and computer-readable medium for improving push-to-talk call setup speed by disabling an idle mode of a mobile station are provided. According to the method, a deregistration request is received from a mobile station. The base station determines whether a push-to-talk service flow exists for the mobile station, based upon a unique identifier for push-to-talk service flow for the mobile station. If the service flow does exist, then the base station transmits a deregistration command to the mobile station including an action code that instructs the mobile station to disable its idle mode and change its mobility feature supported field to sleep only mode. Since the time required to transition from sleep mode to active mode is less than from idle mode to sleep mode, the push-to-talk call setup speed is improved.

  • Patent number: 9026160
Abstract: A method and system for priority handling of a dispatch call in a dispatch network is disclosed. A dispatch call request message from a mobile communications unit is received at a dispatch cell site. The cell site determines whether a DAP is configured for operation in a call request reject mode. The cell site determines a priority level of the mobile communications unit if the DAP is configured in the call request reject mode. When the priority level meets a defined threshold, the cell site forwards the dispatch call request message to the DAP and the DAP processes the dispatch call request message.

  • Patent number: 8509834
Abstract: A method and computer-readable medium for establishing a push-to-talk social group are provided. According to the method, group setup information is received from a member of the push-to-talk social group, and a data transmission, including an internet address of an internet application that manages push-to-talk social groups, is sent to each member of the push-to-talk social group. Push-to-talk calling may be monitored in a push-to-talk gateway application, based upon the group setup information. When a push-to-talk call is detected in which a first member of the push-to-talk social group is active, other members of the push-to-talk social group are informed that the first member is active on the detected push-to-talk call. Other members of the group may then initiate a push-to-talk call with the first member.
