Abstract: The invention relates to an arrangement in connection with a spooler, in which the cable to be spooled or the like is arranged to move onto the spooler or the like via accumulator, the moving wheels (2) of which are arranged to move between two extreme positions, depending on the line speed and the spooling speed, in such a manner that the moving wheels (2) are arranged to move into the lower extreme position (2b) when the line speed is higher than the spooling speed. To avoid damage a cutting means (6) is arranged in connection with the accumulator, the cutting means being arranged to touch the cable or the like moving via the moving wheels (2) when the moving wheels (2) of the accumulator move into the upper extreme position (2a) and to move into a position for cutting the cable or the like as a result of the motion of the cable or the like.
Abstract: Capstan arrangement for transporting a cable to a treatment plant, which capstan arrangement comprises a stationary stand, a capstan wheel rotatably mounted on the stand with a peripheral track for the cable and a motor driven driving device in engagement with the capstan wheel for rotating the capstan wheel in relation to the stand. To achieve a play-free rotation of the capstan wheel, the capstan wheel is provided with a co-axial ring-shaped driving flange, whereby the driving device comprises pairs of drive wheels pressing against opposite sides of the driving flange, at least one drive wheel of each pair of drive wheels being motor-driven.
Abstract: The invention relates to a method and arrangement for levelling out tension variation of an optical fibre when the fibre is wound on or off a reel, the basic tension of the fibre being provided by means of a dancer. To allow tension to be rapidly levelled out, the fibre is arranged to be deflected between two support and guide means by means of a transverse jet of a gaseous medium generated by a nozzle means mounted in a transverse position in relation to the direction of travel of the fibre.
