Patent number: 12275591Abstract: This invention provides a framework that allows for tool-free removal and subsequent replacement of conveyor idlers. The opposing framework uprights, which support outboard ends of each idler, respectively, include hinged axle holders/mounts that can be selectively swung into engagement with, and out of engagement with the axle ends. In this manner, the opposing outer idlers can be disengaged from each, respective, outboard axle holder and then slid out of corresponding inboard axle holders, which each define a socket for receiving the inboard axle end. Each hinged, outboard axle holder can be secured in an engaged orientation with the corresponding axle end using a pin, or other fastener that removably interengages with a lower, fixed portion of the outboard upright, where the two members overlap. The central idler is held in place in keyed slots in central uprights. The framework can define an equal troughing, unequal troughing or channel inset troughing framework arrangement.Type: GrantFiled: February 14, 2023Date of Patent: April 15, 2025Assignee: NHI Mechanical Motion, LLCInventors: Kevin J. Patent number: 12227362Abstract: This invention provides framework for supporting a plurality of conveyor idlers, mounted on central risers and end risers, and a method for constructing the same. A center section comprises, an upper component having a downwardly oriented channel with a sidewalls. It includes a first pair of central riser tabs folded upwardly from the top surface. The center section also comprises a lower component having an upwardly oriented channel with sidewalls. It includes a second pair of central riser tabs folded upwardly from the top surface. The upper component is sized and arranged to nest within the lower component and the first pair of central riser tabs overlap on the second pair of central riser tabs. A pair of end risers are mounted at each opposing ends of the center section, formed from sheet metal, and affixed to the opposing ends of the center section.Type: GrantFiled: November 25, 2022Date of Patent: February 18, 2025Assignee: NHI Mechanical Motion, LLCInventors: Kevin J. Patent number: 12140216Abstract: A hybrid drive component, such as a pulley, a drive sprocket, or an idler is composed of metal and composite material. The drive component manufacturing methods extend the overall life of the pulley while also reducing material usage and product weight thereby making the application more efficient. The drive component includes a drive element, a hub/bearing element and a connecting element. The connecting element is a molded construction that interconnects the drive element and the hub element.Type: GrantFiled: May 16, 2022Date of Patent: November 12, 2024Assignee: NHI Mechanical Motion, LLCInventors: Zachary P. Patent number: 11358797Abstract: This invention provides an idler for use in conveyor systems and associated shaft and support structure that reduces the potential for infiltration of contaminants into the bearing assemblies at the opposing ends of the shaft. By use of stampings, co-molded polymer with sealed metal end caps, press-fit end shafts and stamped-metal support structures a more contamination-resistant and efficiently constructed idler assembly is provided. A hollow shaft center section can be used. The polymer defines at least three sealing structures. The shaft defines a multi-piece unit, with the end shafts press-fit onto the center shaft section and held in place by the bearing subassemblies—affixed to the idler sleeve. The support framework includes three stamped and/or cut, and folded sheet metal pieces—a center section with a pair of opposing central risers that engage end shafts, and two opposing, separately attached, end risers, that engage outermost idler end shafts.Type: GrantFiled: February 12, 2021Date of Patent: June 14, 2022Assignee: NHI Mechanical Motion, LLCInventors: Kevin J. Guay, Alexander J. Moskalenko, Zachary P. Kerin
