Patent number: 5048970Abstract: A vaariable angle reflection accessory for use in reflection spectrometry characterized by a pair of fixed ellipsoidal reflectors positioned over the sample surface and a pair of rotatable plane mirrors positions at opposite sides of the sample surface. The spectrometer beam is brought to a focus at the first plane mirror, from which it is reflected off the first ellipsoidal reflector to a focus at the sample surface. The reflected beam follows a corresponding path back to the spectrometer. Rotating the mirrors in unison causes the beam angle of incidence on the sample surface to vary over a wide range while maintaining optical alignments and continuing to center the radiation on the same sample area.Type: GrantFiled: June 29, 1990Date of Patent: September 17, 1991Assignee: Nicolas J. Patent number: 4921487Abstract: A casing holds a syringe that contains a medicine, such as insulin, which may be driven out of the syringe by a plunger into a catheter attached to a human body. The power for the plunger drive mechanism is provided by a spiral spring mounted in the casing. A clockwork movement, regulated by a step electrical motor, controls the speed of the drive mechanism. A microprocessor controls the speed of the step electrical motor which regulates the clockwork movement. All of the components are contained in a casing which has an opening to allow the position of the plunger in the syringe to be seen from outside the casing.Type: GrantFiled: September 21, 1988Date of Patent: May 1, 1990Assignee: Compagnie Financiere Saint. Patent number: 4853542Abstract: An attachment or accessory for performing diffuse reflectance spectroscopy on a conventional UV-VIS-IR spectrophotometer. The attachment includes a removable body having a hemispherical mirrored interior surface positioned over the sample, and containing windows for entrance and exit of radiation. Multiple sampling of the same sample area enhances the quality of the spectrophotometer output.Type: GrantFiled: June 8, 1987Date of Patent: August 1, 1989Assignee: Nicolas J. Patent number: 4846180Abstract: A method and apparatus for adjusting an implantable heart stimulator (1) in dependence on the effort exerted by the patient wearing the stimulator, using an external control programmer (2) associated in operation with the stimulator (1), a number of typical operating programs p.sub.i of the stimulator (1) being previously defined, each corresponding to a type of effort by the patient and characterized by specific values v of at least one operating parameter p of the stimulator (1), and the stimulator (1) is externally actuated, via the control programmer (2), so as to select the desired operating program p.sub.i, the result of the selection being that the stimulator (1) then operates in accordance with the selected operating program, so that the patient can automatically choose an operating program p.sub.i for the stimulator (1) in dependence on an effort to be made. The typical operating programs p.sub.i and consequently the specific values V of the parameters p, i.e.Type: GrantFiled: October 13, 1987Date of Patent: July 11, 1989Assignee: Compagnie Financiere St.-NicolasInventor: Jacques Buffet

Vehicle anti-theft device making at least one wheel unserviceable, and a wheel comprising the device
Patent number: 4818029Abstract: An anti-theft device for a pneumatic-tired vehicle, of the kind comprising means (4) for automatically deflating a tire (5) of the vehicle and deflating the tire (5) when the device is actuated by control means (2) and the vehicle is in motion, the deflating means (4) being moved by the centrifugal force of inertia when the corresponding wheel (3) rotates whereas they are inoperative in other cases, characterized in that the deflating means (4) comprise movable means for closing at least one orifice (7) through which air under pressure can escape from the tire (3), the movable closing means normally sealing the orifice (7) when the device is inoperative and/or the wheel (3) is stationary, whereas they unclose the orifice (7) and allow air to escape when the device is actuated and as soon as the centrifugal force of inertia reaches a sufficient value to move them.Type: GrantFiled: November 14, 1986Date of Patent: April 4, 1989Assignee: Compagnie Financiere Saint NicolasInventors: Franck Mourot, Jean-Dominique Dana -
Patent number: 4639955Abstract: This invention relates to a device for moving a patient, of the type comprising: a support adapted to receive the body of the patient, a trolley comprising a motor actuating cables connected to the support for lifting the support loaded with the patient's body vertically then for translating it horizontally, at least one rail for translation over which said trolley moves; wherein, on the one hand, said support, adapted to receive the patient's body, is constituted by a supple cloth, in one piece, comprising at least three successive distinct parts: a first part adapted to receive and to maintain the patient's head, a second part adapted to receive and to maintain the patient's body, a third part adapted to receive and to maintain the patient's legs; and wherein, on the other hand, the trolley mobile over at least one rail comprises: a first pair of cables connected to the first part of the support, a second pair of cables connected to the third part of the support, a first, so-called lifting motor for controlType: GrantFiled: July 29, 1985Date of Patent: February 3, 1987Assignees: Armelle Carminati, Edouard de Buyer, Nicolas MonomakhoffInventors: Armelle Carminati, Edouard de Buyer, Nicolas Monomakhoff, Roland Chanut
