Patent number: 5054488Abstract: An optoelectronic sensor produces electrical signals representative of measurements of physiological values, especially the circulation parameters of a person. The sensor has at least one radiation transmitter and at least one receiver for radiation influenced by the physiological values being measured. The transmitter and receiver are covered with a transparent adhesive layer on their sides turned toward the object to be measured. Patent number: 5048533Abstract: A method and apparatus for the non-invasive examination of the blood circulation of a living organism uses a device having: a pair of sensors (18, 19), each of which detects the value .beta. (t) of a measurement value that changes during one pulse wave with the blood pressure of the organism and thereby with time, and transmits this value through signals; a pair of pressure sleeves for connecting the sensors with tissue of the organism through which arterial blood flows; and an electrical unit (21) for evaluating the signals of the mentioned sensors. The method includes setting two subdiastolic pressures which differ from each other by a small value in the two sleeves, transmitting signals obtained from the two sensors (18, 19) to the evaluating unit (21), and determining a circulatory function of the organism from transmitted signals in the evaluating unit.Type: GrantFiled: August 30, 1989Date of Patent: September 17, 1991Assignee: Nicolay GmbHInventor: Edwin Muz

Patent number: 5035243Abstract: A holder sleeve locks a detecting and measuring sensor into position, especially a detecting and measuring sensor for oximetric measurements, on the surface of a protruding part of a human body. The sensor includes a light source and a receiver which is sensitive to its radiation. The sleeve is elastically expandable and completely surrounds the body protruding part. each of two diametrically opposite sections of the sleeve has a recess opening to the sleeve inside surface or is radiation-permeable to receive and hold the transmitter or the receiver. Both portions of the sleeve lying between these sections have pluralities of folds following one another around the sleeve periphery, with each fold forming a spring.Type: GrantFiled: March 24, 1989Date of Patent: July 30, 1991Assignee: Nicolay GmbHInventor: Edwin Muz

Patent number: 5014706Abstract: An orthotic insole has an outline resembling that of a foot. The portions of the insole corresponding to the calcaneus, first metatarsal head, fifth metatarsal head and toes consist of elastically deformable material having a relatively low first hardness. The portion of the insole corresponding to the lateral longitudinal arch consists of elastically deformable material having a second hardness greater than the first hardness. Alternatively, such portion is provided with a cavity at the underside thereof. The portion of the insole corresponding to the medial longitudinal arch is formed with a recess which receives an elastically deformable, interchangeable, wedge-like supporting member. The portion of the insole which corresponds to the area extending back from the metatarsal arch between the lateral and medial longitudinal arches consists of elastically deformable material having a third hardness greater than the first and second hardnesses.Type: GrantFiled: January 10, 1990Date of Patent: May 14, 1991Assignee: C. Nicolai GmbH & Co. KGInventor: Alexander Philipp

Patent number: 4907594Abstract: A method is disclosed for the determination of the saturation of the blood of a living organism with oxygen and an electronic circuit for performing this method is also disclosed. The method resides in red light and infrared radiation being simultaneously beamed into living tissue and the mixed residual radiation emanating from the irradiated tissue being received by a phototransistor 18 and the infrared radiation contained in the mixed residual radiation being received by an identical phototransistor 17 with a green filter 20 arranged in front of it. The measured intensity of the residual infrared radiation is subtracted from the measured intensity of the mixed residual radiation by an electronic circuit so as to obtain the intensity of the residual red light radiation and the residual infrared radiation. The saturation of the blood with oxygen can be computed from the values represented by these intensities of the residual infrared and red light radiations.Type: GrantFiled: June 22, 1988Date of Patent: March 13, 1990Assignee: Nicolay GmBHInventor: Edwin Muz

Patent number: 4869691Abstract: A socket for a multipolar plug connector for direct soldering onto or into a printed circuit board with contact bodies arranged in compartments of an insulating contact carrier and having formed on them contact lugs which protrude beyond the socket comprises a clamping strip which is made of electrically insulating material and is arranged at a distance from the side of the contact carrier exhibiting the exit openings for the contact lugs. This clamping strip has a number of separate clamping points which correspond to the plurality of compartments and in which the contact lugs are fixed between their free end and the end connected to the contact body in a freely selectable arrangement with respect to the compartments.Type: GrantFiled: November 13, 1987Date of Patent: September 26, 1989Assignee: Nicolay GmbHInventor: Edwin Muz

Patent number: 4842557Abstract: In a contact device for making an electrically conductive connection between a conductor and a contact stud of an ECG electrode, a spring element serves as a contact part and has an apertured plate with an aperture therethrough. The apertured plate with the aperture is arranged in front of contact zones of the spring element. The diameter of the aperture is selected such that only a contact stud with a head which does not exceed a permissible maximum diameter is insertable into the contact device through the apertured plate.Type: GrantFiled: June 7, 1988Date of Patent: June 27, 1989Assignee: Nicolay GmbHInventor: Edwin Muz
