  • Patent number: 10508783
Abstract: A flush mount fixture can be installed directly into a junction box in ceiling while still meeting safety standards such as fire safety stands and electrical standards. The fixture can be electrically powered directly from the power lines entering the junction box. The components and materials have been designed and selected specifically for installation into a junction box to thereby provide a flush mounted fixture. By meeting all required safety standards, the lighting fixture is easy and quick to install. No additional cans, hanger bars, or similar devices are needed. The fixture's trim is removably attached such that it can be pulled away and replaced by a similar trim piece having a different color or decorative appearance.

  • Publication number: 20190346117
Abstract: A luminaire for architectural, industrial and warehouse applications can be assembled using an extruded housing having curved sides connected by a cross member. Windows in the curved sides can allow light to exit toward the sides of the luminaire while most of the light exits through a lens on the bottom. The extrusion can have channels and slots such that optical elements and an LED array can be slid into the housing and retained by end caps. A housing cover can overlie a wireway while being held in place by screws creating a clamping force between the housing cover and fixture brackets retained within the housing. The luminaire can be suspended by the fixture brackets or by elements attached to the fixture brackets.

  • Patent number: 7619878
Abstract: An improved radio frequency transparent utility meter cover for an automatic meter reading (AMR) system. The cover is manufactured from a strong and chemically inert polyolefin or polypropylene copolymer and includes a non-corroding lock to secure the cover to the meter box frame. The underside of the cover includes a plurality of ribs that lend strength and rigidity to the cover while increasing mounting points for meter unit interface devices.

  • Patent number: 6237640
Abstract: An expandable repair fitting for sealing and reinforcing polyethylene pipe includes a single or multiple middle section(s) that receives two end sections. The three sections are split into halves in order for the fitting to encapsulate the entire pipe to be repaired. Electrical heating elements in the form of wires are embedded within each section. The specific location of the wires causes the jointed halves to melt together when an electrical source is supplied to the wires, as well as causing a portion of each end piece to melt about the outer pipe diameter, thereby forming a sealed repair fitting. A portal is provided on the middle section to allow pressure testing of the integrity of the fitting. In a second embodiment, the repair fitting does not encapsulate the entire pipe circumference.

  • Patent number: 5897836
Abstract: A thermal gas sensing apparatus for a gas detector is provided with a gas compartment containing a gas, a gas sensor exposed to the gas in the gas compartment, and a temperature sensor exposed to the gas in the gas compartment. The gas sensing apparatus includes a circuit for generating a gas signal having a magnitude which relates to the heat capacity of the gas and a circuit for generating a temperature signal having a magnitude which relates to the temperature of the gas. The apparatus includes a circuit for supplying a variable magnitude of electrical current through the gas sensor to cause the resistance of the gas sensor to remain substantially constant. The apparatus also includes a difference amplifier for generating a gas concentration signal based upon the temperature signal and the gas signal.

  • Patent number: 4797509
Abstract: A connection system for electrical conductors is disclosed. The system involves an outer sheath manufactured from a material transparent to ultraviolet light. A tubular, deformable crimp ferrule is inserted within the sheath. Thereafter, a portion of ultraviolet-curable adhesive is placed within the ends of the sheath, which are covered with cap members to retain the adhesive inside. To connect the conductors (e.g. insulated wires or cables) the ends thereof are pushed through the cap members, through the ultraviolet-curable adhesive, and into the crimp ferrule. The crimp ferrule is then deformed to securely engage the ends of the conductors. Ultraviolet light is subsequently applied which passes through the sheath, causing the adhesive to solidify. The foregoing process produces a strong and secure bond between the conductors, and is readily adaptable to large-scale, mass production manufacturing conditions using a minimal amount of time and labor.
