Abstract: An apparatus for receiving smokable material to enable at least one component of the smokable material to be volatilized is described. In an example, the apparatus comprises a housing having a first compartment and a second compartment. The first compartment is a heating compartment for receiving smokable material in use. The second compartment is an electronics compartment and containing at least one of control circuitry and a power source. The first compartment and the second compartment are substantially hermetically sealed from each other to minimize or prevent air or vapor flowing between the compartments.
Abstract: Disclosed herein is an aerosol generating system an aerosolizable material, wherein the aerosolizable material includes at least two sections, wherein at least one of the sections includes a tobacco material; at least first and second heaters, wherein the heaters are arranged to respectively heat the different sections of the aerosolizable material, wherein the system is configured such that during a session of use, after initiation of heating of a first of the sections by the first heater, the second heater is selectively actuatable to heat a second of the sections to a temperature which causes volatilization of aerosolizable components of the second section.
Abstract: The disclosure relates to a laminar evaporator including an electrical resistance heating element for pulse heating and evaporation of an inhalationally receivable material distributed or distributable on the heating element surface by an electric heating current flowing or flowable in a laminar manner with at least two electrical contacts or poles for introducing the heating current into the resistance heating element, wherein the resistance heating element has at least one slot-shaped recess constricting lines of flux of an original electric field forming or formable between the at least two electrical contacts or poles and comprises a porous structure having a porosity of 70% or greater holding or capable of holding the material.
Abstract: A cartridge for an aerosol provision system comprising the cartridge and a control unit. The cartridge comprises: an air channel extending from an air inlet for the cartridge to an outlet via an aerosol generation region; a heating element for heating aerosolizable material, such as liquid, from a reservoir to generate aerosol in the aerosol generation region; and a valve located in the air channel upstream of the aerosol generating region. The cartridge is configured such that air passing through the air channel is configured to pass from the air inlet, past the air valve, into the aerosol generating region, and then out from the aerosol outlet.
Abstract: An article for generating an inhalable medium using an irradiative light source. The article includes smokable material including at least two regions having a different composition from each other. The article is arranged such that the at least two regions of smokable material can be heated by light emitted by an irradiative light source of an apparatus with which the article can be engaged in use.

Abstract: A method of manufacturing an amorphous solid, the method including a) forming a slurry including a particulate botanical material, a gelling agent, and an aerosol-former material; b) forming a layer of the slurry; and c) drying the slurry to provide the amorphous solid.
Abstract: An article for use within a non-combustible aerosol provision system includes an aerosol-generating material having a top side, a barrier positioned adjacent to the top side of the aerosol-generating material and at least one passageway defined by the barrier and extending away from the top side of the aerosol-generating material. The at least one passageway is configured to, in use, allow aerosol to escape from the aerosol-generating material and provide a condensation region for the escaping aerosol.

Abstract: A vapor provision system comprising a heating element for generating vapor from a liquid vapor precursor material and a wick for transporting liquid vapor precursor material from a reservoir to the heating element. The vapor provision system further comprises a user activation mechanism for signaling the user's intent to start vapor generation and configured to be actuated by a user and control circuitry configured to supply a constant average voltage power to the heating element in response to a signal output from the user activation mechanism. The control circuitry is configured to supply the constant average voltage power to the heating element regardless of the temperature of the heating element.
Abstract: A method, apparatus and computer program is described including: applying an impulse to a resonant circuit including an inductive element, for inductively heating a susceptor, and a capacitor, wherein the applied impulse induces an impulse response between the capacitor and the inductive element of the resonant circuit, wherein each impulse response has a resonant frequency; and generating an output signal dependent on one or more properties of the impulse response.
