  • Patent number: 4608107
Abstract: High temperature resistant tubes are described, which are useful as heat insulators for thermocouples. The tubes are made of spirally wound, refractory cements reinforced with non-woven webs of ceramic fibers. The tubes are advantageous in that by the method of their manufacture, they are free of significant proportions of organic binders and adhesives which may be volatilized at high temperatures, releasing gases.

  • Patent number: 4163517
Abstract: The disclosure is of a tamper-proof tubular container, which comprises: a tubular body including a detachable or removable body wall portion contiguous with one end, a plug for the opposite end and a removable closure member mounted on the inner surface of the removable portion. Frangible means permits detachment of the removable portion. The closure member has a threaded portion in contact with the inner surface of the tubular wall, to facilitate removal and replacement of the closure member. The container of the invention is particularly advantageous in that it is lightweight, tamper-proof, secure after opening and replacement of the closure member and is easier to employ for multiple opening and reclosures. The disclosure is also of a self-threading closure member for use in association with tubular-type containers.

  • Patent number: 3985951
Abstract: Disclosure is made of a novel sheath and the method of its use for protecting electrical conductors and connections. The sheath comprises a tubular body which defines an interior space. The space contains an expandable, synthetic, polymeric resin foam forming composition. The method of the invention comprises inserting an electrical conductor or connection into the sheath of the invention and activating the foam forming composition to foam and encapsulate the conductor or connection. The installed sheaths protect the conductors and/or connections from degradation by environmental conditions, are resilient and improve the insulative quality of the electrical connection.
