  • Patent number: 6595120
Abstract: A lifter for foodstuffs for shifting the same from one position to another including the placing in or removal of various foods to and from cooking utensils without touching the same or piercing the same with forks, knives and the like. The lifter includes a generally rectangular support of a plurality of spaced, longitudinally extending rods or wires bounded by a retaining member having sides. The retaining member is provided with a pair of, side positioned, generally U-shaped handles which are rotatably mounted thereto. Select portions of the retaining member are formed to provide a pair of elevating legs on each of the sides and the handles are provided between such legs. The legs will elevate the foodstuff from the bottom of the utensil or other support surface upon which the laden lifter may be placed.

  • Patent number: 6406085
Abstract: A removable bi-section cargo cover system comprises a molded floor mat and at least two detachable straps. The bi-section cargo cover system is used in a vehicle where the cargo area is convertible from a full sized to a reduced sized cargo area. The molded floor mat component includes a fold line extending from one side edge to an opposed side edge which creates two sections. The detachable straps hold the molded floor mat to the auxiliary seat backs. When the auxiliary seats are folded-down in a subfloor of the cargo area, the molded floor mat is in a planar mode overlying substantially the full sized cargo area floor surface. When the auxiliary seats are folded-up, the mold floor mat is in a right angle mode overlying substantially the reduced sized cargo area floor surface and the seat backs.

  • Patent number: 6381806
Abstract: A two piece retainer assembly is used for positive retention of an associated vehicular floor mat to the vehicle's floor surface. The retainer assembly works in conjunction with a hook-like fastener permanently mounted to the vehicle's floor surface. The two piece retainer assembly comprises (a) an annular collar for positioning in a hole in the floor mat from an underside, and (b) a locking cover coupler for positioning in the hole of the floor mat from an upper side. The annular collar and locking cover coupler are forced together to trap the floor mat. The annular collar has a vertical upwardly extending wall forming an opening and a horizontally radially extending flange connected to the vertical wall. The locking cover coupler has a base plate with a vertical downwardly extending wall forming an opening and dimensioned to receive the vertical upwardly extending wall of the annular collar in frictional engagement. At least two vertically extending latching tabs extend from the base plate.

  • Patent number: 6279467
Abstract: An expandable rack for foodstuffs or other articles for temporary use after baking or cooking to allow the foodstuff to cool. The expandable rack consists of a plurality of tiers or layers which are slidably arranged with respect to one another such that the entire rack may be slid together to form a compact size for storage. A first layer or tier consists of a plurality of spaced, longitudinally extending rods surrounded by a continuous, formed member, to substantially provide a rectangular shape and having downwardly depending legs to elevate the same above a support surface. Each of the additional layers employs the same construction but is of reduced size to permit all layers to be slid together in underlying relation to the first layer. The structure for retaining the tiers or layers to one another and allow sliding therebetween is incorporated into each of the tiers and each tier has support legs.

  • Patent number: 6244802
Abstract: A cargo hold system is for use in motor vehicles. The system comprises a molded floor mat configured to fit in a defined area of the vehicle, e.g. a back cargo area. The molded floor mat is made from a carpet which has looped fibers extending from its surface. The system also includes at least one rigid retention member having at least two linear legs connected at substantially right angles. The retention member further has an upstanding vertical wall and a substantially flat bottom wall. The bottom wall has adhered to it hook-type fasteners. In use, the hook-type fasteners on the rigid retention member interact with the looped fibers of the molded floor mat to create a rearrangeable system to hold in place a variety of different shaped and sized articles.

  • Patent number: 6155629
Abstract: A floor mat is produced to fit the carpeted floor compartment area of a van, pickup truck, sport utility vehicle or other vehicle having a floor which is substantially flat and even with a door sill. The floor mat has a flat base with a retention system operably associated with the door sill. In one embodiment, the floor mat has raised walls near each of its outside edges which form a tray-like central area. At least one of the raised walls is double walled with a substantially horizontally extending floor engaging peripheral lip. The tray-like central area of the floor mat catches debris. It is readily cleaned simply by removing the full mat from the vehicle.

  • Patent number: 6027782
Abstract: An auxiliary molded floor mat is produced to fit the carpeted floor compartment area of a van, pickup truck, sport utility vehicle or other vehicle having a floor which is substantially flat and even with a door sill. The floor mat is a one piece composite of a tufted carpet layer, a thermoplastic mid-layer and a non-slip substrate bottom layer. The floor mat has a flat base with raised walls near each of its outside edges which form a tray-like central area. At least one of the raised walls is double walled with a substantially horizontally extending floor engaging peripheral lip. Molding of the composite imparts a desired contoured shape which neatly fits the vehicle's floor compartment area without substantial folds or wrinkles. The tray-like central area of the floor mat catches debris. It is readily cleaned simply by removing the full mat from the vehicle.

  • Patent number: 5207963
Abstract: A method of molding a plastic-backed carpet blank to a desired shape uses a minimum of work force and carpet material. The method utilizes a portable frame assembly having an open rack with yieldable holding clamps. The holding clamps are used to suspend a plastic-backed carpet blank in the rack. The frame assembly has a set of wheeled legs which allows it to be readily transported between work stations such as a heating zone and a molding zone. The yieldable holding clamps maintain the carpet under constant tension during the molding zone to result in a high quality molded carpet.

  • Patent number: 5071614
Abstract: Molded carpet for use in motor vehicles is made by a method which allows the molding of carpet having deep well areas. The method comprises the steps of heating a plastic backed carpet blank to a degree to make its backing pliable and thereafter molding the heated carpet in a set of specially constructed molds. The molds generally have the shape of the floor area to be covered. However, they are arch-shaped from edge to edge at those portions of the mold where draws are needed to accommodate specially contoured well areas of the motor vehicle's floor area.

  • Patent number: 5034258
Abstract: A carpet mat is produced for use on a floor carpet. The carpet mat is comprised of a carpet component with at least one gripping member of its underside. The gripping member is a thin plate having a first set of vertically extending protrusions which extend into a fibrous portion of the carpet component. Substantially all the tips of the protrusions are distorted in a random fashion to interlock with the fibrous portion of the carpet component to cause a permanent attachment thereto. A second set of vertically extending protrusions extend from an opposite side of the thin plate and are for the purpose of interacting with the floor carpet to prevent a shifting of the carpet mat when placed onto the floor carpet.
