Abstract: Image data of an incuse/relief portion, formed on a surface of a medal, are acquired by capturing an image of the incuse/relief portion with an image sensor, disposed so as to oppose the medal substantially straightly, while illuminating light from a light source disposed obliquely above the medal, and image processing using two or more predetermined threshold values to multinarize brightness information, including shading related to the incuse/relief portion, in the acquired image data into three or more values is performed. By the image processing of multinarization into the three or more values, the medal surface is regionally divided into at least a profile region, a top surface region, and a bottom surface region in the incuse/relief portion and compared to an authentic medal.

The accumulative information is accumulated according to spending the electronic money. The controller converts the accumulative information into the privilege on the basis of a set requirement.

Abstract: An electronic money settlement system has a read/write unit configured to read electronic money information from the card, subtract a charge for an objective to be used by the user from the read electronic money information, and write the balance as new electronic money information into the card, the system also has a confirmation unit having a start button to provide a confirmation signal that confirms a start of use of the objective, and the confirmation signal makes the objective be ready and makes the read/write unit execute the subtraction.

In the electronic settlement system, a store terminal transmits billing information related to a user of a credit card to a management server. The management server transmits the billing information to a credit card company server. According to the billing information, the credit card company server sends a bill to the user. The bill mentions nothing about the place where the store terminal is installed and the user has used the credit card, and therefore, nobody can know the place from the bill.

Abstract: A coupon service system is capable of reducing time and expenses needed for market research, making a correct and sure marketing plan, and providing customers with services that match their respective needs. The coupon service system includes a store terminal provided with a reader. When a cellular phone is brought into a read area of the reader, the reader reads a coupon stored in the cellular phone and determines whether or not the coupon is valid. If the coupon is valid, the reader provides the user of the cellular phone with a service corresponding to the coupon and transmits data related to the user to a management server. The management server stores the data in a customer database.

Abstract: An electronic settlement system includes a plurality of reader-writers, a controller, and a wireless communication circuit to connect the reader-writers to the controller. The controller includes an authentication module to authenticate an IC chip brought into a read area of any one of the reader-writers. The system has no need to providing each of the reader-writers with an IC chip authentication module. Also not needed are wires to connect the reader-writers to the controller. Accordingly, the electronic settlement system is realizable at low cost even if the system involves a plurality of reader-writers.
