  • Patent number: 4760768
Abstract: In construction of a key musical instrument such as a piano, a swingable element such as a hammer is accompanied with a pneumatic damper having an air vent so that, when impulsive load is applied by motion of the swingable element, fluid viscous resistance caused by flow of air in the pneumatic damper well absorbs shock, thereby greatly suppressing undesirable bound of said swingable element on return to its initial rest position.

  • Patent number: 4760387
Abstract: A display controller displays an image on either of a CRT display unit and a liquid crystal display unit (LCD) having upper and lower screens in accordance with image data stored in a memory. When a CRT display unit is driven, an address generating circuit calculates at the beginning of each horizontal scanning an address of the memory corresponding to the leftmost display position on the current horizontal scanning line in accordance with the vertical position of the horizontal scanning line and the number of display positions on a horizontal scanning line, and stores data representing the address in a first register. The data in the first register is incremented in accordance with the horizontal scanning and fed to the memory to read the image data.

  • Patent number: 4754679
Abstract: A basic tone signal generator and a difference signal generator are provided. A desired tone signal is obtained by synthesizing a basic tone signal and a difference signal generated from these generators respectively. The basic tone signal has principal characteristics of a desired tone signal whose tone color (waveshape) changes subtly with time as in a tone of an acoustic musical instrument, but it is not the desired tone signal itself, including some errors, i.e., difference from the desired tone signal. The difference signal represents the difference between the desired tone signal and the basic tone signal. Since the basic tone signal is constituted by basic tone data whose data amount can be substantially reduced as compared to an amount of data required for reproducing the desired tone signal itself with a high resolution and the difference signal is constituted by difference data whose data amount can be very small.

  • Patent number: 4751502
Abstract: A display controller which can display a cursor on either of a CRT display or a liquid crystal type display device is described. The liquid crystal type display device is a type that has an upper and lower display blocks which are scanned substantially in parallel. This display controller allows the display position of the cursor to be designated in the same manner, independent of the type of display device used. The display controller operates in a time sharing manner, alternately on the upper and lower display blocks of the liquid crystal device. Two groups of data corresponding to these upper and lower blocks are formed and are supplied to the liquid crystal display device substantially in parallel. X and Y coordinate positions of the cursor position are also stored. The cursor pattern signal for the liquid crystal display device is also stored in a time shared manner.

  • Patent number: 4748888
Abstract: In this electronic musical instrument a musical tone is generated by repetitively reading out a waveshape stored in a memory. Repetitive sets of phase information are produced, such phase information thus being a linear saw-tooth-like digital signal having a repetition period corresponding to the frequency of the generated musical tone. Phase distorting means modifies the shape of the phase information so as to distort said linear saw-tooth-like signal, without changing the repetition period thereof. The resultant altered phase information is used to access said memory so that during the supply of each of said repetitive sets, successive samples in different portions of said stored waveshape respectively are read out at different effective rates. Thus the waveshape samples read out from said memory will consitiute a musical tone having changed tone color but unchanged pitch.

  • Patent number: 4748885
Abstract: An electronic musical instrument has a musical tone signal forming circuit, an automatic rhythm generator rhythm selection switches, and a registration memory. The switches are used to select one of a plurality of rhythms. The automatic rhythm generator automatically generates a percussion instrument sound corresponding to a selected rhythm. In the registration memory, musical tone data respectively suitable for selectable rhythms are stored in advance. The musical tone signal forming circuit generates a musical tone signal representing a musical tone and further modifies the musical tone signal in accordance with the musical tone data corresponding to the selected rhythm, whereby a musical tone suitable for the selected rhythm can be generated.

  • Patent number: 4747332
Abstract: An electronic musical instrument is provided of the type in which a musical tone signal is formed by executing computations according to a mathematical formula such as a frequency modulation formula. Tone formation of each of musical tone signals to be simultaneously formed is assigned to each time-division-multiplexed time channel which is cyclically repeated over cycles of a plurality of time slots. A computation for forming each single musical tone is divided into a plurality of sub-computations, and those sub-computations are executed respectively using a plurality of cycles of time slots of each single time channel. Thus tone formation according to a complex computation formula is realized. Parameters necessary for the computation are generated respectively for each time slot so that any computational formula is adopted as desired by selecting predetermined parameters for each time slot.

  • Patent number: 4744562
Abstract: A racket includes a head portion having a peripheral notch located therein. A string protector comprised of a connecting section having first and second resilient tongues is situated within the peripheral notch. Each of the tongues has an elongated projection extending therefrom such that the projections oppose each other. The connecting section also has tubular string guides extending therefrom for receiving a racket string. The force of the racket strings tends to push the string protector into the peripheral notch of the head portion, thereby forcing the resilient tongues toward each other so as to close over the strings.
