  • Patent number: 4795872
Abstract: The present invention concerns an electromagnetic induction heating apparatus which is suitable for electromagnetic induction heating a strip which is to be treated such as metal strip. The apparatus incorporates magnetic flux diverting mechanism in the vicinity of both edges of the passing strip which diverts a part of an alternating magnetic flux transversing the strip. In consequence, it is possible to eliminate the generation of extremely high temperature regions at the edge portions of the strip to be treated which is caused by the concentration of magnetic flux, ensuring uniform heating temperature distributions over the entire strip.

  • Patent number: 4738858
Abstract: A wise variety of drinks and foods, such as fruit wine, herb tea, yogurt, fermented soybeans and hot-spring eggs, are produced by heating the raw materials to a temperature of about C. to C. in a vessel, and holding that temperature for a specific length of time, i.e., 3-24 hours for maturation. When producing drinks, it is effective to subject them to a weak vibration, wave motion, forced convection, or stirring force. The method enables the quick production of any desired food or drink in any desired quantity without causing any appreciable reduction in the alcoholic content of, for example, fruit wine.

  • Patent number: 4605056
Abstract: In a continuous casting process, molten metal is supplied into a generally open top horizontal mold having an inner wall maintained at a temperature which is higher than the solidification temperature of the molten metal, while the molten metal is maintained under generally zero pressure at the outlet opening of the mold. A dummy bar is drawn horizontally away from the outlet opening of the mold to cause the molten metal to be drawn out of the mold opening and undergo solidification at the surfaces thereof directly proximate to the outlet opening. The exposed surface of the molten metal in the mold is heated through the open mold top by a heater spaced out of contact with the molten metal surface.
