  • Patent number: 5863011
Abstract: An apparatus for winding a web material such as paper or plastic film about a hollow core. The core is disposed between a pair of shafts spaced from and axially opposed and aligned with each other. The core is fixed at opposite ends to the shafts respectively. At least one of the shafts is connected to and rotated by a motor. Each of the shafts is comprised of an annular slide disposed around and coaxially to the shaft for axial movement relative to the shaft, and tapered surfaces formed on the circumferential outer surface of the slide. A plurality of tins are angularly spaced from each other along the circumference of the slide and engaged with the tapered surfaces. The tips are radially movable relative to the shaft.

  • Patent number: 5653400
Abstract: An apparatus for slitting a web material such as paper, plastic film and the like into a plurality of web materials and then winding the web materials to form a plurality of rolls, the rolls being divided into two groups, one group of rolls being arranged side by side and coaxially to each other at the front of the apparatus, the other group of rolls being arranged side by side and coaxially to each other at the rear of the apparatus. Tracking rollers are disposed on the upper side of one group of rolls and the upper side of the other group of rolls. Actuators press the tracking rollers against the corresponding groups of rolls with a contact pressure therebetween. One group of rolls and the other group of rolls are supported by carriages. Drives moves the carriages downwardly in response to the increases in diameters of the rolls to thereby enable the rolls to increase in diameters.

  • Patent number: 4055313
Abstract: A roll slitting and rewinding machine apparatus for exchanging rewound rolls comprises a frame holding a plurality of slitted strip rewinding roll supporting means arranged in two rows and a carrier rotatably supporting said frame so that said frame is movable from a vertically arranged position and a horizontally arranged position. The carrier being movable from a forward position to a retracted position, whereby when said carrier takes said forward position with said frame taking said first position the rewinding rolls are in condition of rewinding operation while when said carrier takes said retracted position with said frame taking said second position the rewinding rolls are removed from their respective support means.

  • Patent number: 4049212
Abstract: An apparatus for independently and simultaneously rewinding a plurality of slit strips into rolls is provided for a slitting and rewinding machine. The apparatus includes a single elongated contact roller and a plurality of rewinding cores. The rewinding cores are arranged side by side in at least one row parallel to the axis of the contact roller. Each rewinding core is independently supported for rotation by at least one vertically extending support arm. The support arms for the rewinding cores are in turn pivotally connected to a common support base which is adapted to be positively retracted horizontally away from the contact roller. During rewinding operation, as the diameter of strip rolls wound onto the rewinding core increases, the core support arms are moved angularly from their vertical position.

  • Patent number: 4049214
Abstract: A method and apparatus for driving a plurality of strip rewinding shafts or cores are provided. The apparatus includes a plurality of hydraulic motors for separately driving a plurality of strip rewinding shafts or cores. The hydraulic motors are connected parallel with a common hydraulic pump to be independently and simultaneously driven by the pump. The hydraulic pump is in turn connected to a DC electric motor, the operation of which is controlled by a torque control to provide an output rotation of a desired torque characteristic. Also connected to the input of the torque control are means for setting the rotational speed of the DC motor, means for detecting the diameter of at least one strip roll being wound and means for detecting the output rotation of the DC motor.

  • Patent number: 3974976
Abstract: An apparatus for suppressing the rotational fluctuation of a supply roll includes a drive source and a differential gear. The drive source is operatively connected to the first input shaft of the differential gear and a support shaft for the supply roll is operatively connected to the second input shaft via a variable speed gear. The output shaft is joined to both a hydraulic coupling and a control for the variable speed gear. A high frequency fluctuation of the rotation of the supply roll causes a forward or reverse rotation of the output shaft of the differential gear. The hydraulic coupling acts to retard the output shaft rotation thereby causing a braking or driving force to be applied through the differential gear to the supply roll for eliminating the rotational fluctuation of the supply roll.
